Authie, France, June 7th 1944 Story : On June 7th, the Canadians of the 9th Infantry Brigade attack from the Juno sector to enlarge the bridgehead towards Caen and the airfield of Carpiquet. The first resistance are neutralized and the attackers think they have an easy victory. But, at 2.20 PM, the vanguard suffer a violent counter attack lead by some elements of the SS HitlerJugend Division. The C Company of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders must entrench in the village of Authie with a few heavy weapons including machineguns taken from Sherman wrecks. Nevertheless, at 4.00 PM, the grenadiers of the 9. Kompanie of the SS Panzer Regiment 25 crush the last defenders with the support of some panzers.

Scenario rules : Use the tactical rules. The German player sets up first and start first. The battlefield consists of VI (Village), TO (Town), HI (Hills), LW (Light woods), BO (Bocage). German Headquarters BO1 BO2 CL3 LW4 CL5 LW6 BO7 TO8 VI9 Canadian Headquarters 1.

Supply Each player receives 20 points at start. Moreover, the German player receives 3 supply dices each turn and the Canadian player 2 supply dices. Supply points remain hidden during the game.

Special cards Use the tactical rules (Beachhead to Berlin p77 to p86) for choosing the special cards. Special cards : Each player has a 28 special cards deck (2 identical cards max.) of his own choice. Each player draws 1 free card each turn with the possibility of buying only one other card at the cost of 6 supply points). Each player takes randomly 4 special cards in this deck before the game begins.

SS units All SS infantry units have +1 Inf, +1 Arm, +1 Def.

Artillery The German player can place 1 105mm Howitzer in his Headquarters on turn 1. It can fire once on turn 1 and then is discarded.

Others No refits are allowed.

Set up and reinforcements : Canadian player:The C Company starts in BO7, TO8, VI9. German player: The 9. Kompanie and the Panzers start in BO1, BO2, CL3, LW4, CL5, LW6.

Victory The German player must control TO8 at the end of the game. Any other result is a Canadian victory.
