Notes Extractor™
Intro
Automatic conversion from Notes .nsf format into XML/HTML/XSL/EML
Notes Extractor™ from COOPERTEAM is a software solution to convert NOTES applications (.nsf) into standard type formats as XML/HTML/XSL/EML for archiving or platform migration needs. The conversion result can be used locally with a web browser or directly integrated to a web server. It can also be used as an intermediate transformation step to be injected into another platform, like SharePoint™, with our companion tool SharePoint Provisioner™.

IBM Notes Data conversion process towards open or proprietary formats
Notes Extractor is made of a Notes configuration database and an executable. All components must be installed either on the Domino server or on the Notes client. During the conversion step, we use the XML to keep the structured data and HTML for non structured data. Design Elements from the database model used to display informations are converted into XSL. TM
Conversion result is shown as below: For each Notes document, an XML file is created : it contains all the structured data (Text, Number, Time/Date, Keywords, Identities fields...) as well as metadata information (Creation/Modification, ID, Time/Date, Size...). Documents security can be maintained by translating Notes Fullname into the target format (UPN or even LDAP format) and also saved in XML files. Non structured data (Rich Text, Mime Part) are converted into HTML which preserves the same look and feel, such as Styles, Tables, Colors, Fonts, Images, Links, etc. Any attached files (or OLE Objects) in the documents will be saved on disk in their original format. All images are converted into .jpg or .gif : to save disk space, Notes Extractor factorizes images. Forms, views and navigation menus are converted into XSL. Views are automatically created to display all documents types from the converted Database. Indexes of the views are saved either in XML or HTML format. EML format is used for mailboxes.
