Chelsea won the FA Cup final which took place last Saturday at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. First half: Two minutes after kick off, Andersen violently tackled Padelecki and got a yellow card. Unfortunately for Arsenal, Padelecki, who is the team captain and one of Arsenal’s best players, was injured by the tackle. He tried as best as he could to stay on the field and help his teammates but after ten minutes, the coach called him on the bench because he couldn’t run anymore. That was the time when Chelsea’s physical play started to pay off. Jones did two miraculous saves just before half-time, but he couldn’t stop Wilkinson’s powerful shot. Second half: Arsenal had several opportunities to tie the game but Hart’s shot hit the goalpost. 66’: Jackson’s free kick hit the crossbar. On the fast break that followed, Cooper scored the second goal for Chelsea. They probably thought they couldn’t lose after that. Arsenal had no choice. They had to play all out offense if they wanted to get back in the game. Another fast break ended Arsenal’s dreams of winning the Cup this year as Wilkinson scored his second goal in the match. […] Wendell – Arsenal’s coach – admitted after the match that he couldn’t find a solution to stop Chelsea’s offenses and very good passing. Cole, who defended on Wilkinson, said he couldn’t keep up with Wilkinson who was too fast for him. […] The sad feeling in Arsenal’s locker room contrasted with Wilkinson’s big smile: “We played really well. I’m glad I could score that first goal which helped us relax and focus on our game”. Chelsea’s captain didn’t forget to thank the fans for their support. “We knew we could count on them”. […] By Roger Stevens
