Chapter 2, lesson 6 September 27.

Detective Green was called by Mr Carter at 8:45 a.m. There had been a murder at his motel. We went there 20 minutes later. I had never been on a murder scene. The first thing that struck me was the smell. It smelt so bad that my eyes cried until I got used to it. The victim – or what was left of her – was on the bed. There was so much blood that I could taste it in my mouth. We went closer to the body to examine it. Her guts were everywhere and her head was so bruised and bloody that it was difficult to identify her.

Suddenly, I felt like I was going to throw up so I went out for some fresh air. When I came back, it was so dark in the room that I automatically switched on the light. That is when we saw the writings on the wall. “They are next”. It was so creepy that Mr Carter left the room. Detective Green and I were looking for clues when we heard a noise in the closet. I opened it. There was a man inside. I was so surprised to see him that I didn’t move and I didn’t say anything.
