Chapter 9, lesson 4 Yesterday, George Sears took a decision which shocked everybody from the reporters to his administration which didn’t seem to know anything about the President’s speech. The American President, who has been elected because of his way to think outside the box, proved that he could still surprise us even after three years of presidency. Indeed, he announced that from now on, the United States would build and develop the first magnetized road network which will change the way we travel forever. Because of those new roads, people will have to build new cars, which will be good for the American economy. The roads will be powered by solar energy so the future cars won’t pollute anymore since they will work on electricity. The planet lovers who worked hard to preserve the planet will finally be able to rest a little. The president, who was very enthusiastic, showed everybody a 3D prototype of the future car which will be roomier, in which there won’t be a gear lever anymore but which will have a wider windshield and in which there will be a TV screen along with a games console, and a …bed. Everybody was puzzled but President Sears said that the future car will be computer driven, which will allow people to read, eat or sleep while they go to work or to the cinema. The American President thought about everything in this project. People who work in the car business will switch to a new type of work so there won’t be any job losses. [We can see in this project the influence of another great American President who led the country out of an economic crisis after the Great Depression (crise de 1929)]. According to the President, the only problem is that even if people start working on magnetized roads now, they will be operational only in 20 years from now. By Andrew Mc Adams
