ABSTRACT :

At the intersection of the areas of violence against women and reproductive health, reproductive coercion (RC) refers to behaviors that interfere with contraception and family planning and reduce female reproductive autonomy (Silverman & Raj, 2014). In this paper, we will present the results of a qualitative exploratory study of young Quebec women who have been victims of RC. Their testimonies show two major trends: the non-consensual withdrawal of the condom and the coercive control of reproduction. About the speaker :

Sylvie Lévesque is a sexologist and professor in the department of sexology at UQAM. Her research, mainly in partnerships, focuses on issues of violence against women, sexual and reproductive health (spousal and perinatal violence, reproductive coercion, obstetric violence) and parenthood.
