“ Doudou Gouirand & Gerard Pansanel

carry us along once again in the marvellous world of film music from the Mediterranean.

This time they present a wider scope going from

Ennio Morricone (Sergio Leone, B. Bertolucci ) to

M. Jarre (D. Lean), A. Trovajoli (E. Scola), Dino Saluzzi

(P. Almodovar), G. Bregovic (E. Kusturiça), Nicola Piovani

With this project, dedicated exclusively to Nino Rota music for Fellini , french jazz musicians D. Gouirand & G. Pansanel have re-arranged for Jazz these eternal music tracks that bring us back delightfully in the dream world of the genius film maker of 8 1/2 and La Strada. The project has now a hundred of concerts and Festivals to its credit and has been invited at the 2003 issue of the Cannes International Film Festival. Doudou Gouirand and Gerard Pansanel have also produced a CD of this work (Nino Rota/Fellini , Harmonia Mundi) soon to be re-issued.

“ The most successful project on the fellinian world (…) sophisticated arrangements true to Nino Rota’s spirit. ” ( Claude Loxhay - Jazz around - Belgique 1997) “ A superb and generous album. Please, play it again, so I can listen to that Passacailla by Doudou Gouirand or Nino by Gérard Pansanel and cry of happiness ” ( René-André Marcel - Jazz Magazine - déc. 95) “ To attain happiness through music, I thought this assignment of music had become impossible. Listening to this record of Doudou Gouirand and Gérard Pansanel brings ( Frank Cassenti - Film maker -1997) about the miracle.”

Nino Rota/Fellini (Amarcord, 8 1/2, La strada, La dolce vita, etc…), with its two or three brass section is close to the marching-band feeling appreciated by Nino Rota. Cinema Paradiso is a lighter group (trio) but it spans over a wider field of music and film makers.

* However these two music projects have a common point: they celebrate mediterranean cinema.
