Performance Notes Arre Borriquito is a traditional Spanish song that celebrates the Christmas season. The rider encourages the little donkey to” hurry up, they don’t want to miss the festival in Bethlehem!” The opportunity to sing a Spanish song with its alternative pronunciations of vowels and consonants gives the singer insight into language diversity in the world. Be sure to use tall vowels and consonants with every attempt to remove geographical accents from the song. Sing authentic Spanish, as if you were a native!

About the Arrangers
D. Farrell Smith is Director of Choirs for Hilldale Schools in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He earned the B.A. in Music Education from Northeastern State University and an M.A. in Theological Studies from Liberty University. An active composer, Mr. Smith’s music has been performed in many venues around the world. Currently, he is serving as Associate Pastor and Minister of Worship for Immanuel Baptist Church in Muskogee. He has performed under the baton of such notables as Lloyd Pfautsch, R. Evan Copely, and Daniel Pinkham. Mr. Smith is married to Shelley, also a composer; they have two children. Shelley Smith is a private violin instructor in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A member of the Oklahoman Baptist Symphony, she is employed as a reading interventionist for the Sadler Arts Academy in Muskogee Public Schools. Shelley earned the B.A. in Music Education from Northeastern State University. She and her husband David enjoy collaborating on musical compositions.
