SIREC DS display recorder

The screen saver can be set between 1 and 255 minutes. The brightness and contrast can also be adjusted.

■ Application The SIREC DS display recorder permits the recording of 6 analog inputs and 2 binary inputs (option). The data are displayed on a color LCD. Measured values are saved in an internal RAM, and then on diskette. The data can be optionally saved in fuzzy logging mode. This feature permits significant compression of the data without losing any data integrity. Position keys and softkeys are used for operator prompting and playback of the recorded data. The recorder already has an Ethernet interface as standard (FTP FTP protocol) to allow connection to LANs or the Internet, and thus global exchange of data. Various powerful software packages are optionally available for parameterization, online display, evaluation and archiving. The SIREC D-Viewer evaluation software is present as standard.

SIREC DS display modes

Displayy recorders SIREC DS Data recording, data storage Memory status: The RAM capacity and the used diskette capacity are displayed in percent in the status line at the top of the screen. Identification of recorder: Recorder and display identification as well as time and date are permanently visible. Message display layout: This display layout is used for system information. It records all changes in configuration as well as warnings and error messages. Alarm events and user-defined trend markers are also recorded. Event list: The event list permits observation of recorded events as well as activation of the date option. Options are available for display of specific events (e.g. only alarm events) and for resetting the event list. Further displayed information: The engineering units of displayed values are freely-programmable. Time and date markers at all divisions, current time and date, writing of session No., writing, read-only, ring buffer. Data playback: Buffered data can be played back in the recorder. The storage time depends on the set virtual chart speed. Languages: The input menus can be freely selected in the following languages: • English (GB) • English (US) S) • French • German • Italian • Spanish

■ Data recording Data recording can be set separately for each channel.

■ Data storage Storage media: • Data (internal) 2 Mbyte RAM, with battery backup • Data (transfer) 1.44 Mbyte diskette • Configuration (internal) EEPROM PROM Manual storage: Data can be recorded by inserting a data medium (diskette). Data storage interval: Dependent on measuring rate, number of channels, totals, events and alarms. Data format: Product-specific binary coded format. Ring buffer: The internal memory of 2 Mbyte is operated as a ring buffer where the oldest data are overwritten by the newest.

■ Further specifications Real-time clock • With calendar function • Time can be set and synchronized using the trend bus communications option • Accuracy: ± 20 0 ppm with a resolution of 1 second. Data storage (memory): • Clock: lithium battery, service life 10 years (when powered) • Configuration: EEPROM and diskette • Data: RAM and diskette • Calibration: EEPROM. Password protection: Password protection limits user access to specific display layouts. Password protection is switched off when the recorder is started for the first time.

Measured value, max./min. and mean value.

The responsible engineer can then enter his own password, and assign passwords to other users for the corresponding access levels.

Recording interval modes:

There are four access levels with 10 different passwords each:

Continuous, event-controlled or fuzzy.

• Engineer – highest access level, permits access to all levels.

Fuzzy logging:

• Supervisor – second highest level, permits access to technician and operator levels.

Recording modes:

This new, reliable storage procedure for data achieves a compression of 100:1 depending on the signal response. In this manner, 100 times the data quantity can be recorded on a data medium, i.e. the recording duration is extended by a factor of 100. A self-learning algorithm adapts the recording interval to the process characteristic in order to provide a higher data resolution with fast processes.

• Technician – third level, also permits access to operator level. • Operator.

Recording interval: From 100/500 500 ms up to max. 96 hours.

■ Options Analog output An analog output card can have 2 or 4 current outputs (4 to 20 0 mA), each assigned to one channel. Analog input signals can be looped through, or output following the application of mathematical functions (e.g. for signal processing). The mathematical functions can be applied to several channels, and the result then output (e.g. a total or average). 4/8 relay outputs The relay outputs can be used to signal limit or gradient violations as well as the diskette status. The relays are factory-set to NC (normally closed). NO (normally open) can also be selected for specific alarms. 8 binary inputs The binary inputs permit control of many different instrument functions, e.g. start/stop/reset of totalization. The inputs are designed for operation as floating switching contacts. Firmware options Mathematical functions • A mathematical expression can be entered for all analog input channels. This expression can be entered with max. 200/250 characters per channel. The mathematical functions are available for all channels, as well as for up to 8/16 additional channels. Totalization: • Totalizes the values of a channel over a selectable interval. Internal control functions (event markers): • Process events defined by the user can be monitored to trigger functions. Examples include recording start/stop, digital inputs, activation of keys, totalized values, timers, barcodes, etc. Once an event has occurred, it can trigger a number of definable functions or actions on the recorder. These include markers in the recording, relay output, control of the recording, counters, totalizing or the triggering of further events. Graphic options User displays: • Permit importing of customized displays generated using the Screen Designer software. Symbols and user graphics (SIREC C DH): • As above, but with additional option for importing symbols and bitmaps.

Displayy recorders Application tion software SIREC D-Viewer, SIREC D-Manager SIREC D-Server, SIREC D-Designer

■ SIREC D-Designer The SIREC D-Designer enables the user to design unique graphic display layouts which can be subsequently output on the recorder display. Any combination of display elements can be used such as trends, digital displays, bargraphs, digitized pictures and plant diagrams. Various aspects of these elements can be changed as required to create an individual presentation. The SIREC D-Designer software is compatible with both SIREC DM and SIREC DH recorders. Display layouts can be transferred to any number of recorders, permitting continuity and standardization of process data in a particularly simple manner. The software package has the following system requirements: • 200 MHz Pentium processor or better • 3.5" diskette drive Fig. 12
