Jean Gagnon played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Quebec Remparts.
Au cours de sa carrière junior, il a récolté 34 buts et 131 mentions d’aide pour un total de 165 points en 208 affrontements.
During the course of his major junior career, he collected 34 goals and 131 assists for a total of 165 points in 208 games.
Il a participé à deux conquêtes de la Coupe du Président : 1973-74 et 1975-76.
He helped the Remparts win two President Cup titles: 1973-74 & 1975-76.
En 1975-76, il fut nommé à la première équipe d’étoiles de la LHJMQ.
In 1975-76, he was named a QMJHL first-team All-Star.
De plus, il a mérité le trophée Émile-Bouchard à titre de défenseur de l’année. Au terme du prestigieux tournoi de la Coupe Memorial de 1976, il fut nommé au sein de l’équipe d’étoiles. Moreover, he received the Émile-Bouchard Trophy as the League’s top defenseman. At the conclusion of the Memorial Cup Tournament in 1976, he was named to its All-Star Team. In 1976, he was selected in the fifth round (52nd overall) by the Indianapolis Racers in the World Hockey Association Entry Draft.
