Many times I am asked how to wire a single engine airplane, so here is a simple diagram that fits most airplanes - even autos. There are no confusing routings nor mysterious lines going all around the

page. The master solenoid is an automotive part number. Many years ago I quit using ammeters - they only tell one thing, the generator is working. A voltmeter tells you the generator is working by an increase in voltage when the engine is accelerated. It tells the condition of your battery by the voltage present when the master switch is turned on. It will also show an in-

dication of a problem if it fluctuates abnormally. Besides all that, you do not have to run a heavy wire into the cabin for the ammeter or have a meter shunt somewhere on the firewall. The voltmeter just connects to the buss. Any addition to the buss can be made to accommodate whatever your demands are. I have this program on my Macplus and can print it out each time I need it.

During construction of my Super Koala several time I encountered a need to drill holes in hard to reach places. The tool I came up with to solve the problem is very simple and

can be made from scraps laying around the shop. I drilled a 3/16" hole lengthwise through a 2" long piece of 5/8" diameter steel rod, then enlarged the hole to 1/4" diameter to a depth of approximately 1" at one end., I then drilled and threaded a hole 1/2" in from each end for 2 set screws. I can then insert a 3/16" diameter bit into

one end of the tool and a 1/4" diameter rod (purchased in any hardware store in lengths to about 4') in the other end, tighten down the set screws, and I have a bit that will reach to any depth I need. I also have another tool made to extend a 1/4" bit. That one also works well with hole saws that use a 1/4" diameter pilot hole.
