CHILD WITH TUBERCULOSIS

AIDS VIRUS

AIDS in AFRICA (2010)

TARGET 1: Decline of HIV and AIDS, decrease of the number of deaths and ill people, extension of their life spar.

In ZIMBABWE the AIDS virus has evolved and turned into a pandemia. ZIMBABWE’s infection rate is the fourth highest rate in the world and most of the victims are children. A quarter of the population is HIV positive. Since 1990 this disease has considerably reduce life hope, which plummeted from 61 to 33 years old! Furthermore, ZIMBABWE is the south African country where AIDS victims receive the least financial support.

CHILD WITH MALARIA

TARGET 2: Easy access to all available treatments against HIV and AIDS for all. These treatments have extended the life spar of sick/infected people but too many people have not been treated yet: only 62 % in South America, 30 % in Subsaharian Africa and 14 % in Independent States.

TARGET 3: Tuberculosis still kills 1,7 million people every year and contaminates 14,4 million, a number increasing with the population. It now seems imposible to reduce by half the infection rate of tuberculosis by the year 2015 as some regions (such as Subsaharian Africa) are completely overwhelneed by the disease and as others (such as Oceanía, South Eastern Asia) still show extremeely high infection rate (between 264 in Eastern Asia to 521 per 100 000 inhabitants in Subsaharian Africa).
