Thank you for purchasing a BR-2000. The BR-2000 is a battery checker and discharger for nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries used as the power supply of radio control receivers, etc. To fully display its performance and to use it safely, please read this instruction manual thoroughly before use.

•Reverse connection will damage the inside of the BR-2000.

Never get the BR-2000 wet. •The interior is a precision electronic circuit and the entry of rain water, etc. will cause erroneous operation. If the BR-2000 does get wet, always have it repaired.

Do not connect two or more battery packs simultaneously. •There is the possibility of abnormal heating and fire due to shorting of the battery.

Do not discharge with the BR-2000 sitting on vinyl, plastic, or other material that melts easily and on a car seat or other article that burns easily. •During discharging, the BR-2000 heats up. Also, the battery may be abnormally heated by some cause.

Do not store the BR-2000 within the reach of children. Do not discharge a transmitter battery using the BR-2000. •There is the possibility of over discharging.

The BR-2000 is a battery checker and discharger for 4~6 cells nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries. It cannot handle batteries of other cell sizes and types. The checker display is based on voltage. Since the voltage changes with the battery itself and the ambient temperature, use the display as a criteria only.

Only voltage display can be used with lithium batteries (1 cell only). The discharge function cannot be used.

Features of the BR-2000 •Constant current discharge system •Handles nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries of 4~6 cells (Number of cells switching: 3 steps) •Continuously variable discharge current switching (Trimmer variation: 1~3A) •Voltage display and level indicator display (LCD with 2 colors backlighting) •Cooling fan BR-2000 Ratings •Corresponding batteries: Nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride (4~6 cells) •Discharge current: 1~3A •Discharge range: 4/5/6 cells

When discharging, avoid places where the BR-2000 will be exposed to direct sunlight and enclosed spaces. Perform discharging within the 5~40°C range. •Avoid direct sunlight and use in a well ventilated place.

Be careful not to pinch or short the cord. •Shorting may cause abnormal heating and sparking of the battery.

Always perform discharging with the left and right stands of the BR-2000- raised. •If a battery is discharged without the stands raised, the heat dissipation effect of the cooling fan will be halved and the BR-2000 may be abnormally heated. Perform discharging with the stands raised and in a well ventilated place.

Meaning of Special Markings

2 Connect the battery to the BR-2000. 3 Press the START button once. 4 The voltage and bar graph are displayed for 20 seconds. 5 The BR-2000 turns off automatically. *The checker function measures the voltage at the time the START button was pressed and holds it for about 20 seconds. Measurement is performed each time the START button is pressed.

Backlighting: Red When the BR-2000 is used as a checker, the characters "CHECK" are displayed.

The discharge current can be changed by means of a trimmer, but when using the checker function, we recommend that you always fix the discharge current at 1A. [Discharging function]

Use to adjust the trimmer.

Do not leave the side of the BR-2000 during discharging. If you sense abnormal heating of the battery, immediately stop discharging.

Used nickel batteries are a valuable resource. Tape or other wise process the terminals so that are not shorted and take the used battery to your local recycling center.

When discharging, raise the left and right stands of the BR-2000.

If discharging is performed without raising the stands, the heat dissipation effect of the cooling fan will be halved and there is the danger of abnormal heating. Raise the stands and perform discharging in a well ventilated place.
