Petter Johansson

Louise Schultz plays the fiddle and guitar and sings. Since graduating from Music Academy in 1998 Louise has worked as a traditional singer and fiddler. As well as working with Svart Kaffe she is half of the duo Susanne & Louise and is active with the folk group RÅmantik. She also participates in various theatrical performances. Simon Stålspets plays the guitar, nordic mandola and harmonica. After graduating in electric guitar and classical composition at the Royal College of Music in 2000 Simon plays in the folk groups Kalabra, Lystra and the Stockholm/Lisbon Trio. The founder of Svart Kaffe, Jean-Pierre Yvert plays the accordion, willow flutes and sanza. Jean-Pierre, French born and bred, has over the years become something of an ambassador for Swedish folk music in France. In October 2004 he moved to Sweden. Jean-Pierre is also part of the group Nord-Sud and works with the story teller Annie Gallay.

Only if you enjoy being lost in the dance can you fully appreciate the subtleties of the beautiful melodies and rhythms that they create. They are the essence of Kinnersley, long may they continue.

Boris Trouplin - Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th Known to Kinnersley as a member of 'Minuit Guibolles', Boris visits the festival this year as a solo artist. After accepting and completing a 5 month artistic residency at the Médiathèque in Orleans to create his ‘one man show’ Boris released his solo album 'Troisième Souffle' just before its première. He has played the recorder since primary school and became fascinated by the pipes at the age of 19. He took a year voyage sailing across the Atlantic via Gibraltar, The Canaries, Cap-Vert to Antilles: one month in Martinique then Grenade, The Grenadines arriving in Trinidad at the time of the carnival where he discovered the music of the steel drum.

Silje Onstad Hålien - Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th Silje is currently studying for a bachelors degree in dance at the Norwegian College of Dance in Oslo. Originating in the Valdres she discovered her passion for dancing valdresspringar when she was 15.

Swedish dance - Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th

Petter is a talented young dancer and performer from Boden, Norrbotten, who recently finished a course studying dance and dance teaching at the Eric Sahlstrom institute at Tobo in Sweden. After giving a very successful series of dance workshops at the festival last year Petter will continue his focus on the elements of Swedish dance, responsivness to the music and improvisation.

Bernard Loffet - Wednesday 21st to Sunday 24th Here is a musician capable of lifting the spirits of the dancers. His energy and passion for the dance is transmitted through his music, its interpretation resting with the participants of the fest-noz. Bernard also makes accordions and manages his own enterprise in Brittany.

Gasconha plus - Joan-Luc Madier, Dany Madier-Dauba, Didier Oliver & Emmanuel Pariselle - Wednesday 21st to Sunday 24th For more than 30 years the musicians of Gasconha plus have been working on the traditional dances, music and songs of the south-west of France. Dany Madier-Dauba as dancer, singer and fiddle player, Joan-Luc Madier as singer in the famous band "Perlinpinpin" and other groups, Didier Oliver as a specialist of the fiddle style of Gascony, singer and player of the "boha" ( south-west bagpipe )and mandolin and finaly Emmanuel Pariselle with his unique chords-style on the melodion. All this is present in their music, a combination of deep traditional roots and great crazy musicality.

Tore Bolstad - Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th Tore Bolstad grew up on a farm in Valdres, but now lives at Ås just half an hour south of Oslo. He has played the Hardanger fiddle since the age of 9 and traditional music takes up most of his time. Tore learned from fiddlers in Valdres among them his great uncle Torleiv Bolstad and his grandfather Torgeir Bolstad. Other teachers have been Andris Dahle, Trygve Bolstad and Olav Jørgen Hegge. He has been studying at the Ole Bull Academy at Voss. Tore is also a dancer of the Valdres tradition, with Knut Steinsrud as the main teacher. Tore was the winner of the Landskappleik (national competition) in the year of 2001.

Knut Aastard Bråten - Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th Knut has been dancing springar for the last ten years, learning the dance from many springdancers in Valdres, Rolf Karlberg and Ingar Ranheim are amoung his ideals. Each year Knut competes at the Landskappleik. He has taught springar for children & adults in Valdres, Oslo, Bergen, Tromso and California. Knut plays an old Norwegian sitter instrument called a langeleik, a kind of epinette, dulcimer.
