The behavioral approach has had a number of lasting effects on everyday business operations. Lots of what the early Organizational behavior advocates proposed and the conclusion from the Hawthorne studies have provided the foundation for todays theory of motivation, leadership, group behavior and all sorts of other behavioral approaches. The results of the Hawthorne Studies as an example were very formative for todays management. The Hawthorne studies found out that once the workers feel that their management is interested in their welfare and provides them with attention, the productivity as a result increases. That showed, that the workers needed an ideal social enviornment to do a good job. It also shows that the welfare of the employees improves immensely, when management involves themselves more in their daily activities. This is a derivate of the Hawthorne experiments which can be applied in modern management. But the welfare of the workers did not only depend on the greater involvment of the management. The Studies showed, that it also depends on working conditions such as adequate rest breaks, fair payment, adequate working hours etc..T These are factors which are also considered in modern management. Current studies concentrate for example on the ideal time breaks arrangement at work. These studies cope with questions like: How long should those time breaks be and should workers rather be active during those time breaks or should they be allowed to take a short nap. It shows that the Modern Management is based upon the behavioral approach. Nowadays nearly every company even has a human resources department, designed for addressing the needs of the employees. As an Conclusion, it can be said, that the lasting effects of behavioral apporoach can be seen in many businesses today. From the way managers organize jobs, to the way that they work with employee teams and also in the way they communicate with those teams, we see in all of this elements of the behavioral approach.
