Twelfth Accounting and Management History Conference Lille March 29th and 30th 2007 The Twelfth Accounting and Management History Conference will take place in Lille on March 29th and 30th 2007 in the Centre des Archives du Monde du Travail (Centre of the Archives of the World of Work). Inaugurated in 1993, this place, which is unique in France and well known by researchers in the field of the history of accounting and of management aims at preserving, collecting, sorting out and communicating the private archives/records of the companies that have a historic nature.

Call for papers The proposals for papers can deal with any subject related to the history of accounting and management. However, the textile and mining industrial history of the North of France, the importance of the « big families » of the North of France in these industries as well as the vocation of the Centre of the Archives/Records of the World of Work lead us to encourage papers with a bias towards the following themes: • accounting and the Industrial Revolution; • accounting in the birth of the great textile and mining industries; • the birth of industrial accounting; • families and governance; • communities of practices in the field of management on the geographical level as well as within social groups such as: unions, families, schools… The texts can be written in French or in English, workshops will take place in both languages. In order to ensure constructive exchanges, the papers will be subject to discussion(s). For each paper, one “debater” will be named. Best papers will be published in a special issue of Accounting Business & Financial History. They will be submitted to the normal evaluation process.

Organisation committee Alain Desreumaux, Michel Levasseur, Jean-Pierre Raman, Hubert Tondeur, Olivier de La Villarmois et Yves Levant.

Submission of proposals The proposals for papers (full text) are to be sent before December 15th 2006 to Céline Vannoorenberghe (administrative manager) by e-mail: [email protected].
