M4A1(76) Sherman wrecks – Sunk off Malin Head, County Donegal (Ireland) On September 8, 1944, the British 15,000-ton tanker/transport SS Empire Heritage while travelling as part of Convoy HXF 305 and carrying tanks and halftracks on her deck, was torpedoed and sunk by U-boat U-482 just off Malin Head, County Donegal, Ireland. The wreck today lies in about 70m (229 ft) of water and is of interest to scuba dives, with generally good visibility and being fairly accessible. In their watery grave like ghosts from the past, are a few of the still intact American M4 Sherman tanks that were tossed about from the deck of the SS Empire Heritage when she went down (http://www.online-instagram.com/)
