The E2e Executive Elite is a high-powered, indestructible flashlight from Surefire. It's construction is of aircraft-grade aluminum and the lamp is high-pressure xenon. A hard-anodized class III finish (commonly known as HA-III) provides corrosion resistance. The blade of a Swiss army knife cannot scratch it.
The E2e produces 60 lumens for 75 minutes using SF123A lithium batteries, which are available from Surefire for $1.25 each. Lithium batteries have more capacity and are lighter than alkaline cells. They also function normally down to -40 degrees. Two batteries are included with the light. I find that the pocket clip keeps it securely in the pocket. The E2e is quite small- at 4.5 inches it's about an inch shorter than a Mini-Mag - but it still creates huge amounts of light.
The above beamshot has a Mag 3-c on the left and the E2e on the right. The Mag does have a small tad more throw, but I find it easy to view objects with the E2e at more than 150 feet. The E2e's aluminum reflector is metallic vapor coated for what is known as a orange peel texture. This creates a smooth beam with no rings or holes. The light is activated using a clickie tailcap, which is a change for 2005. The previous version had a "push for momentary, turn for constant" type tailcap. Unscrewing the new tailcap one full turn prevents activation. The bezel has this engraving:
The bezel does indeed get rather warm during use. If used in the hand, it will not reach uncomfortable temperatures during extended burn times. However, if the light is set down while on, thus losing the heat-sinking properties of the hand, it can become hot enough to damage nylon and other plastics of a low melting point. The upside to this property is that it makes a dandy hand warmer!
Surefire E2 Executive Elite I also received a F05 flip-up red filter, which is available for $8.00 from Surefire. It produces a very bright red light, though not too bright to impact night vision very much. It fits on other E-series lights and should be great for getting to the deer stand before dawn.

Surefire E2 Executive Elite very good at it. Whether or not this is what you want for the outdoors is a matter of opinion. I really do like the light for most all purposes, but some of the longer-running LED lights may be more suitable to backwoods use.
