ARGENTINA 2007 UCO VALLEY

Santa Celina Malbec

VARIETIES

100 % Malbec. Malbec is Argentina’s most emblematic red grape variety. Originally from the southwest of France, it has found the perfectly suited combination of sun and climate in Argentina. It produces very powerful wines with lots of colour.

VINTAGE 2007

In spite of our fears about the weather, this being an El Niño year, and the potential repercussions on the health of the grapes, we were able to bring in healthy berries in the end, reflecting the good work in the vineyards. The harvesting of our red varieties was a long process. The lack of sun meant that the ripening period had to be extended to ensure good phenolic maturity.

ANALYSIS TASTING NOTES Deep raspberry-red robe with purple glints. A beautiful bouquet showing black fruits (blackcurrant, mulberry) and spice. The mouth is supple and velvety with wellintegrated tannins. Very pleasant.

SUGGESTION Roast beef with red peppers, beef bourguignon, white meat with pasta, cheeses (Comté, Saint Nectare).

Argentina’s winegrowing history dates back to the 19th century. It now has just over 200 000 hectares of vines, making it the world’s fifth largest wine producer. Mendoza is the largest wine region, representing almost 70% of the total winegrowing area. It is divided into several sub regions. The lower part is set at 500 metres whilst the highest culminates at 1600 metres. Our very high quality grapes are grown at altitudes of over 800 metres.
