A proscenium stage is required. In industrial or warehouse-type venues, appropriate masking may compensate for the absence of a proscenium (should be hung prior to the company’s arrival). Masking plan will be supplied by the company. Extra masking might be required in order to improve acoustics. Performing space: depth: 30 feet (9,14 m) width: 46 feet (14 m) height: Overall clearance of 12 feet (3, 66 m), plus a minimal rigging/flying clearance of 8 feet (2,44 m) Wing space, at least 7 feet (2,13 m) wide, is required on both sides of the performing surface. Extra space is required backstage for quick change areas and properties’ tables The stage and proscenium floors must be one smooth black surface. A linear structure made of aluminum trusses (length: 48 feet (14,63 m) / height: 1 foot (0,3m) will be hung to the grid on 3 manual chain blocks (provided by the company).. Loading capacity of each of the three chain blocks rigging points should be of 1000 lbs. (0,5 ton / 454 kg). A large mirror (provided by the company) will be hung to the grid on two 1 ton motors (provided by the company). Loading capacity of motors rigging points should be of 2000 lbs. each (1 ton / 907 kg). Two lateral anchoring points are required (stage right and stage left) If venue’s rigging points are higher than 50 feet (15,25 m.), presenter must supply dead rigging points and lines of proper length and gauge.

Seating rakes’ width and steepness should allow for good sightlines. Ideally, all spectators should be able to see the entire stage floor. Seats should be set in staggered rows. Optimal audience: 600. Depending on the venue’s lay-out, some seats may have to be cancelled to allow good sightlines and space for the setting of control boots: lighting, sound, projections, stage manager.

STAGE AND SET •

Frontal seating is required.

Power sources should be no farther than 25 feet (7,62 m.) from the set, unless presenter provides extra power lines. A local electrician must be available on first day of set-up and after the last performance to connect and disconnect the power feeds for the set motors and lighting, sound and video systems.

Company needs a electrical power feed in order to connect a power converter for video equipments. If the primary voltage is over than 230 volt IN, the presenter must supply a voltage stabilizer.

Notes:

Company will supply presenter with a lighting plan.

SOUND The production requires a professional quality sound system for the proper presentation of the performance. The following is to be provided by the presenter : • A set of two full range speakers with subwoofer on each side of the stage with its required amplification as the MAIN MIX / FOH program Ex : TWO Meyer UPA-1 or Apogee AE-5 and PER SIDE ONE Meyer USW-1or Apogee AE12a2 (Total number of speakers required : four full range and two subwoofers) • A set of speakers with its required amplification and rigging hardware in a central cluster position as the VOICE program. Ex : TWO Meyer UPA-1 or Apogee AE-5 (Total number of speakers required : two full range) • A set of speakers, its amplification and boom stands to be used as a « surround » type program. A professional quality intercom system with a minimum of eight belt packs and eight headsets. The system should be able to interface with the company’s wireless intercom system. (HME model RW 800 / RF Frequencies: 450 - 470 Mhz ). All the intercoms should operate on the same channel, and be compatible with Clear-com or Telex system . The company requires the following frequencies: -

RF 782 at 806 Mhz. RF 450 at 470 Mhz.

The presenter is responsible for applying for and obtaining wireless permits. In case of no availability of the required frequencies, the presenter must supply equivalent equipment.

To the main speakers located on each side of the stage. The subwoofers are not controlled by another AUX or BUS OUT; they have to be driven by the MASTER OUT. Company’s cargo is contained in approximately 35 transportation crates/racks. Company will eventually supply presenter with a detailed list of crates measurements and weight. Presenter should provide storage space (300 square feet) for empty crates during show’s run (not on stage).

Audience should be warned that a stroboscope will be used during performance. Actor smokes on stage during performance (one cigarette). A live goldfish makes a guest appearance in the play. Presenter should provide company with the addresses of local pet shops.

Local running crew must be the same for rehearsals and performances. Laundry should be done on day 2 of set-up and before each performance and should be completed two hours before show time on performing days..

Performance duration: approximately 2h15 min. without intermission. A detailed fit-up, performing and strike schedule will eventually be supplied by the company. Generally speaking, 4 days of work (AM, PM and evenings on the first three days, AM, PM on the fourth day) are required to set-up, provided the seats, grid, lighting instruments, sound equipment and masking are set/rigged prior to the arrival of the company’s technical crew. Opening takes place on the evening of fourth day. Preliminary strike: 1 one-hour shift immediately after last performance. End of strike and truck loading: 1 five-hour shift on morning of following day. Security/safety/fire inspections should take place on the day before opening day, during the afternoon. Advance notice is required

DRESSING ROOMS / MISCELLANEOUS To be supplied by presenter: • • • • • • • •

2 dressing rooms for the performers. 1 dressing room for the technical crew 1 dressing room for costumes and wigs maintenance. 1 dressing room which will be used as a production office and should be equipped with a desk and a telephone line. Bottled water, fruit juices and coffee. All dressing rooms must be equipped with make-up tables, chairs, mirrors, costume racks, toilets and showers. Upon arrival of the company, presenter should provide the company’s tour manager with emergency medical services addresses and phone numbers. Language: the show is performed either in French or English. Presenters willing to provide surtitles in other language should contact the company in advance to obtain an updated text of the play. Ex Machina does not provide surtitling equipment.
