GRANULAR=SYNTHESIS A-1090 Vienna, Währingerstr.59, Tel / Fax +43 1 402 86 62, e-mail: [email protected] New York: +1 212 496 39 84

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: V I D E O to be organized by the presenter / venue (Please hand this page to the video company)

4 back projection screens of identical dimensions as big as possible according to room dimension installed 90 degrees rotated : portrait (not landscape) ! The back projection screens must be in an even state of use. 3 x 4 meters (single screen) are the standard size and has been a good size for most of the venues. Since the four back projection screens have to be 90 degree rotated and mounted next to each other, think of adequate solutions concerning their stable installation, most usually they hang from a ceiling grid, inform the video company about this request.

4 identical LCD videoprojectors installed 90 degrees rotated, to project in this unusual position PORTRAIT (not landscape) ! One of the big difficulties is, to obtain a bright and over all equal image in contrast and colour temperature – to form one wide screen out of 4 individual ones. Appropriate beamers are all recent LCD types with a minimum 1500 Lumen brightness and full RGB colour temperature correction – PAL capable. The beamers are also turned 90 degrees to achieve a compatible projection for the portrait format of the rear projection screens. Rear projection distance for projecting onto 3 x 4m screens is about 7 meters (depending on actual projector / lenses). Video projectors can’t project from floor or ceiling position, they are also rotated 90 degrees. The video beams must be mounted in the axis of the vertical middle of the screens. The projectors need to be perfectly fixed to the scaffolding, as the sub-low frequency sounds of M5 will make things move that can move.

4 DVD Players or mini-DV or DV-CAM video players capable of phase synchronization, SYNC IN or VIDEO IN, providing 2 Video Outs and a jog-shuttle wheel or remote control !

4 long BNC video cable, size according to room dimensions : The four video projectors and the dvd / video players (+ the video crossbar) are at either end of the space. This distance is about the lengths of one cable to connect the crossbar to one beamer.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: AUDIO + SUBSONIC to be organized by the venue (please hand this page to the audio company) 1.)

Each of the four dvd / video players has a stereo output for sound

2.)

Provide for the connection between the 4 stereo outputs of video recorders to 8 mono inputs of the mixer mind the right cable length and right connectors/ adaptors. The video machines either have RCA or XLR

3.)

Mixing desk Input 16 input channels with low shelving + half parametric mid + high shelving filters 4 AUX sends Output stereo

to FOH

stereo to the REAR speakers, this is not the same signal as to front! 4 individual outs to 4 speakers/ speaker groups : A, B, C, D this could be subgroups or direct outs 1 out for sub-bass feeds directly into array of special bass speakers must be an AUX send PRE FADER! 4.)

other components - 1 X-over in addition to any x-over in the pa-system - 1 simple digital delay or multi-effect processor. - 1 professional CD- player

5.)

Cables and connectors mind the right cable length and right connectors/ adaptors your board either has 1/4 inch or XLR most likely a mix of it: In any case: all signals must be symmetric. DI boxes!

6.)

Amps/ Speakers stereo FOH

into 2x circa 1000 Watt sinus full range

stereo REAR

into 2x circa 1000 Watt sinus full range

the signal is not a delayed version of the FOH signal but a completely different signal!

4 special sound sources

screens bass and sub bass

into 4 speakers: A, B, C, D each 3000 Watt sinus only mid/high range system for a clear sound for vocal material. each speaker located directly above or below the four

10 000 watt sub-woofer for bass reproduction

Sub-audio is another independent bus autonomous from the four full range busses and has nothing to do with ”music” (and those ”usual” needs to make music, not even rave and techno applications!!!) Here the waves come not only in rhythmic peaks but also as a sustained field of extraordinary and actually threatening pressure sometimes without any other ”music” at all. All sub audio loudspeakers should be one block (one wave).

General REQUIREMENTS: SPACE : IMPORTANT: We need to have detailed information about the venue, especially the venue dimensions. We present MODELL 5 projected at four 4x3 meter screens (or bigger). Four 4 x 3m screens would define a space 12 meters wide, 5 meters high (including 1m from ground to lower side of screens) and about 7 meters deep - the projection distance. To the left and right from the screens there is need for additional space to place the PA, so actually the room should be about 16m wide. Its important that they screens become a wall in the given space, rather than a cinema situation (like a screen on a wall) The space must be absolutely dark during the show, light is emitted only by the videobeamers. 1.)

Two Artists operate the various equipment including dvd or video players, mixing desk, cd-player and notebooks from a dedicated and secured space behind the audience and facing the screens .

2.)

they need a table/desk to comfortably arrange all machinery

3.)

all video und audio cables to beamers and PA-components start from this place

SETUP : Usually about 8-16 hours overall are necessary. The tuning of the beams, to match their colors, is the most time-consuming process. Informing the video company in all details about the circumstances is inevitable in order to avoid time-consuming improvised solutions.
