Marionnette & Thérapie The Marionnette et Thérapie [Puppetry and Therapy] Association, created in 1978, aims to expand the use of puppetry as a tool for care, rehabilitation and social reintegration. In order to do so, it organizes trainings, distributes a periodic bulletin and participates in national and international meetings.
It was after the international symposium of September 1976, held in Charleville-Mézières as part of the World Festival of Puppet Theaters, that the Therapy Commission of UNIMA-France became an autonomous association. Created in May 1978, Marionnette et Thérapie is the first association to have concretized the idea of the need for a meeting place between puppeteers and therapists in order to deal with the pitfalls of improvisation in each of these very specific areas. It was founded by Jacqueline Rochette, benefiting from the active contribution of Dr. Jean Garrabé. It was chaired by Jacqueline Rochette from 1978 to 1987, Madeleine Lions from 1987 to 2007 and Serge Lions from 2007 to 2009. Marie-Christine Debien has been president since 2009.
