Servicemodesand DealerServiceTool (DST) For easy installationand diagnosis the dealer remote control RC7150is introduced.The RC7150can be usedfor all new TV sets, includingall set of the MD1 chassis.The RC7150is also called Dealer Service Tool or DST. The ordering number of the DST (RC7150) is 4€,22218 21232.

6.2.1 Installation Íeatures Íor the dealer theTv-set Thedealercanusethe RC7150for programming withpresets,Tv-settings,Dishsettings. 10 Differenlprogramtablescan be programmed intothe DST fromtheGFLor MD2 viaa GFLor MD2TV-set(downloading to the DST;seeGFLor MD2servicemanuals) or by the DST-I(DST/PCinterface;ordering code4822218 2127n. Íeaturesof the DST,the Forexplanation of the installation (Forthe MD1 for useof the DSTare recommended directions chassis,downloadcode4 shouldbe used). 6.2.2 Diagnose features for the servicer The MD'|.2 setscan be put in the two servicemodesviathe ThesearetheServiceAlignment Mode(SAM) DSTRC7150. andthe ServiceDefaultMode(SDM).SDMcanalsobe the"seÍvice".pins on the SSP. enteredby shortcircuiting 6.2.2.1 ServiceDefauftMode (SDM) Enteringthe SDM: - By transmittingthe "DEFAULT' command with the RC7150DealerServiceTool. - By temporarilyshortingpins S42 and S43 on the Small SignalPanel.

When the mains power is switched off while the set is in SDM, the set will enter to SDM immediately when the mains is switched on again'

The SDM has the Íollowing pre-deÍinedconditionsÍor all microprocessorcontrolledtuning and linear functions: - For recognitionof the SDM "SER" is displayedat the top oÍ the screen. - Tuning at 475.25 MHz (Secam on Multi-Francesets (with Nicam L), PAL on other sets). - Volume level is set to 25olo(oÍ the maximum volume level). Other picture and sound settings are set to 5096. - Auto switch off disabled (normallythe set is automatically switchedoff when no video signal (IDENT)was received for 15 minutes). - Sleeptimer is disabled. - All other controls operate normally. - When the microprocessor supports the "blinking LED" procedure (See 6.3) and an error code is present in the error buífer, the LED will blink the number of times, equai to the value of the last error code. This function will also work when there is no soud or plcture. 6.2.2.2 Seruice Alignment Mode (SAM) EnteringSAM: - By transmittingthe "ALIGN'commandwith the RC7150 Dealer Service Tool (this works both while the set is in normaloperationmode or in the SDM). - By pressingthe "MENU"and':" key on the local when the set is in SDM. keyboardsimultaneously ÊxitingSAM: - Switch the set to stand-bv. Note:

When the mains power is switched off while Íhe sef is in SAM, the set will entet SDM immediately when the mains is switched on again.

ln the SAM the following informationis displayed on the screen: - Softwareversion (the software version oÍ the microprocessorin the set is displayed.This software version identiÍicationcorrespondswith the software versions in the Software Survey as publishedin the Product Survey. - Error code buffer (see paragraph 6.3). - Options (see paragÍaph 8.4). - Alignment and geometry information (see paragraph 8.2.1,8.3.1and 8.3.2).

The currentthroughthe EastArVest stageis measuredon the LSPvia2 precisionresistors(R3483and R3484). In caseoÍ a lineproblem,the easvwesÈcurrent becomes too highandthe voltageacrossresistorsR3483andR3484 rises.Whenthe voltagelevelexceeds0.6V,D6480stans to conductand STANDBY-SUPPLY PROTECTION becomesHIGH.Whenthe voltageacrossC2480is very high (e.9.whena lineproblemís alreadypresentwhenthe set is switchedon withthe mainsswitch),D6zl81and D6,f82 conductand EW-PROTECTION is activatedveryÍast. protectionbecomesactivein theÍollowing The East/West cases: 1. WhenEW-protection hasbeenactive,the lineoutput transistor7420mayalsobe defective. 6.4.5 Vertical-protection Theverticaloutputstagecreates VERTICAL-PROTECïON pulsesat everyflybackpulse whenit is functioning correctly.Thesepulsesaresensedby the BIMOSlC7119-4Don pin37.Whenthepulsetrainis interrupted, the BIMOSwillswitchto BIMOSSTANDBY mode.Inthe BIMOSSTANDBY mode,theBTMOS switches oÍf the VDRIVE+andVDRIVE-whilethe RGBoutputsare blanked. Circuitbreaker'l463maybe open.Probably, the lineoutputstagewill notworkandthe powersupplywill switchto hick-upmode(undervoltageprotection). 6.4.6 Software protection The softwareprotectionis managedby the microprocessor. It continuously verifiesthe presenceof the +5 and +8 supplyvoltageson pin34 andthe activityoÍ the l2Cbus. Whenthe pÍotectionbecomesactive,the soÍtwarewill switchthe powersupplyon andoff continuously viathe STANDBYline.In this situationthe powersupplyproduces a squeaking sound.

6.4.4 Ew-protectaon (not Íor 21" sets) The EasVWest protectionswitchesthe powersupplyto standbyvia the signallineSTANDBY-SUPPLY PROTECTION. Viathe hold-circuitry of the powersuppty, the setwill stay in the protectionmode(standby)andcan onlybe resetby switchingthe setoÍf andon viathe mains switch.lf the Íaultis stillpresent,the setwillswitchto standby(protection mode)again.

l'C protection The l2C bus is controlledat each l2O-command. ThereÍoreevery l2Ccommand has a defined starístop condition.When the defined start/stopcondítionis repeatedlyincorrect,error 3 is placed in the enor buffer and the set switchesto software protection. l2C-protectionis generated in the Íollowingsituations: . SDA shortedto earth . SCL shoÍted to earth . SDA and SCL shorted When SCL or SDA is shorted,the set tries to restart and the LED lights in a clearly recognisablepattern. . SDÁ/SCLshorted when the set is switchedON with the mains switch: LED is 8 secondsRED, 8 secondsGREEN,flashes RED,8 secondsGREEN,flashesRED, 8 seconds GREEN,flashes RED, etcetera. . SDIy'SCLshorted during operation LED is I secondsGREEN,flashesRED, g seconds GREEN,Ílashes RED, ercetera,

6.5.2 Fault Íinding in the power supply In caseof a powersupplyproblem,the powersupplycan be simpliÍied to a standalonepowersupplyat lowvoltages (lowrisk)as Íollows: Controlpart oÍ the powersupply 1. Disconnect the SSP(asa resultthelinewillnot functionanymoreandthereforewill no longerbe a loadoÍ the powersupply)or disconnect the lineby removingjumper9400and R3400(if present)on the LSP. 2. Connectan externalDC powersupplybetweensupply - withcathode pin 1 1C7520 (viaa diode- e.g.BYDSÉID to supplypin 1 1C7520) and hotearth(e.9.earthoÍ the bigsmoothingcapacitorC2505). 3. Connecta oscilloscope to testpointP4 at pin g ICZSZO. 4. Turnup the exteÍnalDCsupplyvoltageslowlyto 17V DC. Remark:

+SDb and +8Sc protectionof the microprocessor +SDb and +8Sc are the main supply voltagesof the entire small signal procêssingoÍ the set. At pin 34 the microprocêssorsenses whetherthe supply voltages +SSDbor +8SccomingfÍom the powersupplyare present.When one or both the supply voltages are míssing,the set switches to soítware protection.

Faultfindingand repairtips Note that Íor 21' sets, voltages and wave forms may differ.

ThelC stattsat a supplyvoltageof 14VDC, after that the supplyvoftagecan drop to approx.9V DC.At approximately18VDC, over voftageprotectionbecomesadive, resultingin a supplyvoftagedropbelow 7V DC beforea new staft-upis performedby turningup the supplyvoftageabove 14V DC.
