THE KMD 850 DIFFERENCE The KMD 850 is radar-capable, offering interface potential to the high-performance Bendix/King ART 2000 and ART 2100 digital weather radars. The ART 2000 and ART 2100 feature Vertical Profile®, which allows you to alternate between a horizontal and a vertical view of the storm.
TRAFFIC ASSESSMENT
The KMD 550 and KMD 850 interface with the Goodrich Stormscope® (WX-500) to provide lightning awareness at ranges from 25 to 200 nm.The versatile displays show cells or strikes at 360º or forward-looking (120º) views. A special red icon appears if lightning is spotted within 25 nm.
Traffic can be displayed via the Bendix/King KTA 870 Traffic Advisory System (TAS) and the Bendix/King KMH 880 Multi-Hazard Awareness System (packaging TAS and an Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System — EGPWS), displaying traffic at eight ranges, from 2 to 40 nm. The active interrogation, dual directional antenna system will track up to 60 targets and display up to 30. The bearing accuracy rivals that of the Honeywell TCAS systems from which it gets its technology — at a more economical cost for General Aviation.
