Jasmine Salhab Who should be called a journalist, then ?

According to me , being a journalist is not only about taking photographies and putting them on the Internet, or posting a message on a website it is much more than that. It is about gathering true and trustworthy information in order to bring to people what they have to , and want to, hear about. What they assert has to be proved by pictures or testimonies .Participatory journalism and citizen journalism is a good way to bring information to people and spread them it all over the world thanks to social media such as facebook or twitter ,the only problem is that one can not know the real value of what is said not everyone can be a journalist i mean it requests special skills and no one can pretend being to be a journalist just by giving a piece of news , doing this is only having a role in this huge process even though it can be very helpful (by revealing / shedding light on political situations:Arab spring...)

An earthquake and a revolution One shall admit that social media are taking an enourmous part in the process of spreading information all over the whole world . In his point of view those social media are even being more successful at giving news to people than usual media which are nevertheless very famous. That's because it is faster,it is very popular, and it is at one’s fingertips ,one can use it at any time from of the day or the night ,anywhere ,only by using his one’s smartphone, his laptop or his I-Pad.When the speaker deals with the cChinese earthquake he says that everyone knew it swiftly thanks to social media such as twitter or facebook because people were texting while the earthquake was happening , if we take a look to this more carefully ,one must say that it is completely astonishing ,unbelievable ,texting or posting comments on the web while during an earthquake- how could it be ? Some years ago this could've never been possible and that's progress ! That is the future ! The faster people can know what happens the faster solutions can be found and a change made

What future is there for investigative journalism ?

It is obvious that investigative journalism is still to exist for many years. In fact when I listen to the video I understand that investigative journalism has a great future ,in the speaker's opinion people need reporters, they have always needed them and they still do . It it is a kind of journalism that is very unique and different because it is really about getting the news from where they it happens, so these this information are is trustworthy .It seems to me that it would be wrong to say that people need to hear news that makes them happy , or make them thrilled ,of course I would prefer hearing

The news iS good : singulier The information IS good : singukier

happy and good information about what is going on all over the world but my first goal is to know the truth! I mean knowing real news, tTo me it is completely stupid to lie to people with good false news which will make them happy , rather than being honest with real bad news which make them sad but will let them know what is today's reality
