CATIA V5 Automotive - Chassis Master Project ... finalize the design intent, and create an assembly drawing. ... this project is the Spring Damper assembly.
The objectives of this project are to create parts, add the parts to an assembly and position them with constraints, create a contextual part in an assembly, finalize the design intent, and create an assembly drawing. The assembly used in this project is the Spring Damper assembly. You have already created several components used in this assembly in different case studies throughout the course. By the end of this project you will be able to: Create parts using the solid modeling and surface modeling Create an assembly and position the components with constrains. Create a part in context of the assembly Finalize the design intent of the part Create a drawing of the Spring Damper assembly
Master Project: Overview (1/4) Following is a list of steps that are required to complete the master project: 1. Create parts using solid modeling. Create the two strut mount parts (StrutMountBase and StrutMountTopPlate). The parts use the features learned in this course. Design Intent:
Copyright DASSAULT SYSTEMES
A stable base feature must be determined. The model must be created symmetrically about the YZ and the ZX planes, and must sit on the XY plane. Fillets and drafts must be created as separate features (they cannot be created within the profile sketches). Avoid complicated profiles. Thickness must be 3mm.
Create a part using surface modeling. Create the Pillar part. This part uses features learned in this course. Design Intent: All the features must be created using the surface modeling commands. The wireframe geometry and surface geometry must be stored in separate geometrical sets. The outer and the inner profiles must be created as separate surface features The model must be created symmetrically about the YZ and ZX plane. Wall thickness must be 10mm.

Student Notes:
Create an assembly (continued) Replace the Pillar in DamperAssembly. Design Intent: Insert the existing components to StrutMounting assembly. All the components must be constrained with reference to the skeleton part. Fully constrain all the components using axis system. Replace the Pillar component in the DamperAssembly by a new Pillar component.

4.
Create a contextual part. Create a Cap part in context to the StrutMounting assembly . Design Intent: The Cap part must be in context of the skeleton part of StrutMounting assembly. The axis of the cap must coincide with the Damper axis. The cap part must snap to the center hole of StrutMountTopPlate. The thickness must be 1mm.

6.
Create an assembly drawing. Create a simple assembly drawing of the Spring Damper assembly. Design Intent: Three main views of the drawing must be shown. Overall dimensions for the Spring Damper assembly must be displayed on the drawing. The drawing must contain a title block.
