RIDER SHOW DAY – BEFORE DOORS 1. LOAD IN

12 Midday unless otherwise agreed in advance (in writing) with New Model Army’s production staff. If your event is a festival then load in will be minimum of 3 hours before New Model Army’s agreed stage time.

2. CREW

We shall require 4 able bodied, sober and experienced load-in crew to assist New Model Army’s production personnel with transfer and set-up of our equipment. Such personnel will be under the direction of New Model Army’s Tour Manager. One of said personnel shall have access to safe and reliable private transport, have expert local knowledge (including shops, entertainment and leisure facilities) and be designated as The Runner. A venue representative and/or electricians shall be available for the duration of this contract.

3. PARKING

We shall require parking for 1 x 12m Double Decker Sleeper coach (with trailer) in a quiet location in close proximity to the load in door. The bus will need a 240v 16a C-form power supply (land-line) to be available at our arrival time – which in most instances will be during the night before the show. Failure to supply power will result in the bus sitting with its engine running all night, polluting the atmosphere and annoying your neighbours! Once parked, the bus will not be moved unless due to exceptional circumstances, so please make sure that our allotted space is clearly marked and that we will not block any vital access points.

4. SOUND CHECK

No more than one hour from our load-in time we expect that PA and Lights (see specs below) to be installed and functioning correctly and that the stage (see spec below) and drum riser (see below) are clear and ready for the set up of our back-line equipment. Sound check will commence no less than four hours before the venue is opened to the public and will last approx 150 minutes. During that time the venue will be closed to anyone not directly involved in the running of the show. There is to be NO photography, video or audio recording of any kind – except with the permission of, or directly by New Model Army’s production personnel.

STAGE, SOUND, LIGHTING AND BACKLINE EQUIPMENT. 5. STAGE

Promoter agrees to provide a rectangular stage of solid construction with a minimum clear performance area of 12m wide, 7m deep and a height from floor of at least 1.0m and no more than 2.0m. Performance area should ideally be covered in “Marley” type flooring. There should also be provision either side of the performance area for PA wings (2m x 1.5m).

6. CRASH BARRIER A crash barrier must be available that is at least 1.25m high, fixed at no more than 1.5m from the front of the stage and reaching the full width of the stage. The use of the barrier will be at the discretion of New Model Army’s production personnel and when used shall be manned by venue security operating with consideration to the requirements and requests of said production staff. 7. DRUM RISER

We require a stable drum riser, ideally carpeted, with minimum dimensions 2.5m x 2.5m x 0.5m. Alterations to this must be notified in advance. Festival risers would ideally be on (locking) wheels. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

8. POWER

Minimum 3 x 240/220v 13amp fused sockets and extension leads terminating with UK style square 3 pin sockets and able to reach the centre of the stage area. The Promoter will further ensure that the venue has a suitable power supply for the PA and Lighting systems that will be employed for the performance.

9. PA SYSTEM

Promoter will provide at no cost to the artist a first class PA system to the specification included with this contract. Any changes or alterations MUST be agreed with New Model Army’s sound engineer, in writing, well in advance of the engagement. If no communications are received and on arrival the equipment is not to the specification required we reserve the right to cancel the engagement with the promoter forfeiting the full contracted fee. The sound system is the single most important production item and we will not compromise on the quality of the equipment supplied. That said, we are experienced professionals who understand how it is – we just don’t like surprises!

10. LIGHTING

Promoter will provide at no cost to the artist suitable lighting rig compatible with the size of the venue and the stature of the artist. As all venues are different and all supply companies have different equipment the list of lighting equipment supplied with this contract is for guidelines only. Full specification and design to be discussed between contracted supplier and New Model Army’s lighting designer. Again, as with the sound, we will not compromise on the quality of the equipment supplied, but we are grown up and realistic about it!

11. BACKLINE

Normally we will carry our own back-line with us but where the Promoter is providing back-line (usually fly-in festivals and one-offs) the equipment provided must be to the exact specifications of the list supplied with this contract. Any alteration without prior notification will be rejected. We realise that certain items are hard to come (particularly the keyboards) and we can bring our own with us provided that the Promoter pays for any transport costs/excess baggage incurred on arrival, in cash.

Where the venue does not have shower facilities, the Promoter will make arrangements, at no cost to New Model Army, for a room with en suite facilities at a nearby hotel to be exclusively available – providing transport to and from if necessary.

15. KEYS

Keys for Production Office and Dressing Room should be presented to New Model Army’s Tour Manager on arrival at venue. Room designation signs and direction information should be posted before load-in, so that no one has to waste time looking.

16. CREW ROOM

CATERING REQUIREMENTS 17. GENERAL

It cannot be overstated about the importance of good quality catering. We are open minded and experienced but this clause is best summed up by the expression “the way to a man (or woman)’s heart is through his/her stomach”. Unacceptable food or facilities will be rejected and alternatives will have to be supplied at the Promoters sole expense. Catering is not difficult and need not be overly expensive – it just requires a little care.
