AH 3000

1. AH 3000 1.1 General The optical surfaces on the sensors are in many applications exposed to very nasty environments and will get stained very quickly if no measures are taken. The most common method to protect the optical surfaces is by flushing purging gas in front of them. In some applications, like in waste combustion, where a large number of reactive gas components are present the purging gas must be heated to prevent condensation of salts on the lens surface. To do this the air heater AH 3000 can be used. Isolated hot air tube

High air temperature indicator

AH 3000.

The mains switch turns the heater on and off. The power indicator (white) indicates that the heater is operating. The low air temperature indicator (yellow) indicates that the temperature of outgoing air is lower than its set value. The high air temperature indicator (red) indicates that the temperature of the outgoing air is higher than its set value. In the start-up phase both high and low temperature indications are normal, until the temperature is properly regulated to the set value

Installation

2. Installation 2.1 Mechanical Fix the heater to wall or brackets with M8 bolts or screws of equivalent strength. Note that the casing can become hot (up to 80 °C). Cabinet size is 400x300x160 mm (HxWxD) on the right side 100 mm has to be added for the air connections and at the bottom a further 70 mm is needed for the electrical connection. The bolt position should be as below:

268 mm

8 mm

70 mm

435 mm

200 mm

2.2 Pressurized air Connect tubes for incoming and outgoing pressurised air. Both intake and output are ¼” thread. The pressurised air MUST be OIL FREE with a pressure of 4-8 bars and with a maximum flow rate of 500 ltr/min.

2.3 Electrical There are two types of heater, one for 110V/60Hz and one 230V/50Hz. Make sure the heaters are connected to the right voltage. Current rating: 9A/230V, 19A/110V

Installation

LDS 3000 Operators manual

Connected power: 2kW The heater is supplied with a power plug complying to the standard in the destination country. Note: If the power plug is not used note that in most countries the electrical installation has to be done by a certified electrician.

2.4 Insulation Insulate tubing to avoid any heat losses, take extra care with metal connectors since the heat loss is greatest from these.

Settings

3. Settings Introduction Settings can be done in three modes of the temperature controller - Operation level, Adjustment level and Protected level. All settings in protected mode should be done by trained service technicians. Malfunction due to faulty settings are not covered by the warranty.

3.1 Temperature setting This setting is done under Operation level. In the normal operation mode the keys 3 and 4 are used to set the temperature. 3 to decrease the set value and 4 to increase it.

3.2 Over temperature protection This setting is done under Protected level. The over temperature protection is a floating value that depends on the set temperature. Normally this value is set to -2 which means 2 °C above the set temperature. If there is a low airflow and/or low temperature set it might be necessary to increase the span for the over temp protection and in some cases even the low temperature indication. To do so follow these steps:

Enter Protected level: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Keep keys 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second. Toggle through the different parameters with key 2. Change öAPt to 0 Change iCPt to 0 Check that utPt is set to OFF. Return by keeping keys 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second.

Set the temperature protection: 1. Toggle through the different parameters with key 2. 2. r-5 should always be set to run. Setting is done with keys 3 and 4. 3. AL-1 is the low temperature limit normally set to 10 °C. This means that the low temperature indicator will light if the temperature goes below set value by 10 °C. Note the polarity. Setting is done with keys 3 and 4. 4. AL-2 is the over temperature protection normally set to -2. This means that the heating is shut off if the temperature exceeds the set value with more than 2 °C. Operation will proceed when the temperature has dropped back to the set value. Note the reversed polarity. Setting is done with keys 3 and 4.

Exit Protected level: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Keep keys 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second. Toggle through the different parameters with key 2. Change öAPt to 2 Change iCPt to 2

Settings

5. Check that utPt is set to OFF. 6. Return by keeping keys 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second.

3.3 Tuning This setting is done under Protected level. An alternative to changing the upper and lower limit when there is problem with regulating the temperature to the set value is performing an “Auto-tune”. Auto-tune will run several heating cycles and then automatically set new PID-parameters. Before running auto-tune the pressurised air must be connected and the temperature must be set to the wanted value - AH 3000 must be in normal operating condition.

Then start auto-tune by: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Press key 1. Set At to ON. The temperature will flash during execution of auto-tune. When auto-tune is done the temperature stops flashing, it will automatically be set to OFF and the new PID-parameters will be stored. 5. Exit the adjustment level by pressing key 1.

Exit Protected level: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

6

Keep keys 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second. Toggle through the different parameters with key 2. Change öAPt to 2 Change iCPt to 2 Check that utPt is set to OFF. Return by keeping keys 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second.
