Roch star getting married GRANT KERR Telegraph-Journal

Hearts will be breaking in New Brunswick, across the country and around the world. Edmundston-born heartthrob and singing star Roch Voisine is getting married. The handsome, lifelong bachelor will be tying the knot in Montreal on Dec. 21. Mr. Voisine, 39, revealed his wedding plans Wednesday in an interview for his upcoming concert tour. "I will be married before I am 40. It's big news. It's a big, big, big change," Mr. Voisine said. The lucky girl is Myriam St-Jean, an accounts manager from Montreal, who Mr. Voisine met just a few months ago at the beginning of the summer. It was love at first sight. "Boom, it's one of those things," he said over the phone from Montreal. Mr. Voisine said he had never met the right woman until Ms. St-Jean came along.

"I am a changed man. She is the most loving, kind person I have ever met in my life." Anyone expecting a huge, glitzy wedding ˆ la Celine Dion will be disappointed, though. It will be a private affair held in Montreal with just family and friends invited, away from the newspaper flashbulbs and television cameras. "We are not going to invite the press," he said. Mr. Voisine was cagey about other details, explaining he wanted to keep his privacy but admitted there would likely be a media storm when the news leaked out. Previous Polls Suggest a poll question

"You are going to write this and I am going to get really, really hammered" by a media frenzy, he said. "Nobody knows this." But he did say he could definitely see children in the future.

"I picture kids in the next year or so. We will make lots of babies. It's long overdue. You can only do this with the woman of your dreams." Mr. Voisine, who moved with his family from St-Basile to Montreal at age nine, became an international singing star in 1989 with the release of his first French-language album, Helene. The title cut was a No. 1 hit single in France and the album of the same name went on to sell three million copies. In all, the dashing, dark-haired Voisine has sold more than eight million records worldwide. All told, Mr. Voisine has released 13 albums in 14 years, including original recordings in English and French, live CDs and Christmas albums. He has starred in television specials, won two Juno Awards and was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, as well as receiving the equivalent award in France. His new English-language single, By Myself, has just been released, which will be followed by his fourth English album, Higher, on Nov. 5. Mr. Voisine, who lives in Montreal, put to rest rumours that he is, or ever has been, gay. He said he isn't sure where the rumour started, either. "I don't know what it was. It's behind me. I was never gay. It was just this big thing: if you're cute looking and you sing well, (people) will try to bring you down." Mr. Voisine will tour New Brunswick later this month with four concerts slated for Oct. 21, Fredericton Playhouse; Oct. 22, Imperial Theatre, Saint John; Oct. 23, Capitol Theatre, Moncton (two shows). He also plays the Rebecca Cohen Auditorium in Halifax on Oct. 24.
