Introduction : UtlsCaster is a software of distribution of GPS corrections via Internet using NTRIP protocol. It was designed to works in partnership with UtlsServer and UtlsClient but is compatible with all software respecting the NTRIP standart. The number of customers/waiters is limited only by the band-width of your connection.

Necessary system : The software requires the presence of MICROSOFT .NET Framework 2.0. The presence of this one is tested at the time of the installation and it will be proposed to you to download it if this one is not present. A PC under WINDOWS XP/2000/VISTA with 1Go of memory is recommended. Because the soft is not using MICROSOFT APU this one should works under LINUX (MONO) but that was not tested. An Internet connection is also necessary, this one must have a fixed IP, only version 2.0 of UtlsCaster will have the support of the dynamic IP. The presence of GOOGLE EARTH is also strongly recommended. Indeed this one is used to post information relating to the various users. You will be able to download GOOGLE EARTH english version at the following address http://earth.google.eng/

Installation : After having downloaded UtlsCaster the following icon must be present in the directory where this one was recorded:

Simply to click on this one to start the installation process. .

read this carrefully then click « Next »

Read this in the same way and click on “I Agree” if you are in agreement with the licence terms. To click on “Cancel” means that you do not agree with the licence terms and will exit of the installation process.

If the .NET Framework is not installed or if your version of this one is not the maid a dialog box similar to this one must appear. If the .NET Framework is not present or is too old on your machine click “Yes” to install it. Click “Not” if you version is newer.

The following window will keep you informed of the installation progess.

Click on “Finish” by stripping or notching the box “run UtlsCaster” according to what you want to do. Nota: If you are proceeding to a version upgrade of UTLSCASTER and if you want to find back all the parameters previously definite, you will have to make a backup of *.CSV and *.INI files located in the installation directory of UtlsCaster.

First startup : If you uncheck the checkbox “Run UtlsCaster” at the end of the install procedure you will have to go in the menu bar to run UtlsCaster:

Then clck on UtlsCaster.

Successively the 3 following boxes of alarm must appear. It is normal because the files containing information relating to the clients, servers and sub networks are not yet present. Those will be created when after having obtained informations about servers, clients and sub networks you leave UtlsCaster. One following lauch you will not find any more these messages of alarm.

Click simply on “Ok” to leave this window.

If you are not registred you will get this alarm:

Then the main windows will be displayed.

This window is divided into 6 tabs which give access to various parameters and/or informations.

a- « Caster Status » tab.

In this tab are displayed in a synthetic way, information relating to the state of the caster like various parameters of configuration. The text box reports all the events relating to the connections, generation of “source table”, connection of clients, sources… all what is in this window can be recorded in a log file in text format if the check box “save log” is checked. The number of connected sources and numbers it connected clients are also displayed. The box “AutoStart” must be activated if you want that the software starts at the same time as WINDOWS. The button “Start” is used to start the caster, this one checks your Internet connection then opens TCP port being used for the access. If “AutoStart” is active it is not necessary any more to go to click this button. The button “PlotStatus”, enables you, if GOOGLE EARTH is installed on your computer, to get a graphic view with the sites of the connected sources as of the clients (if those sent a GGA string).

Foot-note: this option does not engage of anything operation software but it allows just an easier administration of the caster. b- « Server » tab.

From this tab you will be able to manage your caster and to modify or create new servers of

corrections. If “Is connected” is checked the value “since” indicates since when and if the box is stripped it is the date of disconnection which is indicated. The creation of a new waiter is done by selecting “New” in the drop-down menu and the modification by selecting the server and by clicking on the button “Edit”. Selecting “New” or to click on Edit” will reveal the following window:

It is enough to input or modify the fields then to click on “Ok” to validate the creation or the modification of a server. Notes: the modifications and creation can be made without it being necessary of reinitializing the caster. Tips : If the server of data uses UtlsServer, in the box “Information” you can indicate IP address and the port where this server is reachable in DIP mode. With regard to the values in the fields please see appendix A “NTRIP Norme”.

c- « Clients » tab.

In this tab it is the same logic as previously which applies. The only difference relates to the check box “Connection allowed”, this one indeed makes it possible to prohibit the access to the caster temporarily to a customer (not payment…). A click on “Edict” or the selection of “New” in the list of the customers will show the following dialog box:

It is then enough to fill or modify the fields and to click on “Save”. All the modifications are then taken into account.

d- « Caster » tab.

Input in this tab all information relating to Caster and click on save. The button “Test” makes it possible to test local and public IP adress of the Caster.

Nota: see appendix A with regard to the format of the fields.

e- « Net » tab NTRIP standart allow the creation of sub networks inside same a caster. It is thus possible to create two sub networks, one for DGPS corrections the other for RTK or one sub network paying and one free of charge, to see mixed one containing three or four sub networks. This possibility not being that an option it thus should be activated by checking the box “Enable SubNet”. Just as for the clients and servers makes it select “new” or to click on “Edit” will show the window to input informations.

Nota: To get the « Network » field accessible in the window creation of server it is necessary of course that at least one sub network was created.

f- « About » tab.

In its downoaded version UtlsCaster is in evaluation version and its use limited to 3 hours. uninterrupted. Before registering UtlsCaster take care that your Internet navigator accepts cookies. After payment of the licence the button “Register now…” will be disabled and the licence full (operation not limited to 3 hours).
