The Future of Photocatalysis: Air & Water Treatment Applications

Photocatalytic Applications

For the passed few years, research activities in the domain of photocatalysis have acquired a strong momentum. Today photocatalysis is regarded as a key technology, and consequently gives rise to research programmes and application developments the world over. One of its main advantages is to make it possible to obtain complete mineralization of pollutants while not degrading the environment. In France, Ecrin-TANO, whose mission is to facilitate synergies between industrial research and academic research, has participated significantly in the creation of an effective cluster gathering private and public research centres, photocatalytic material producers and suppliers, as well as users.

12h45 Lunch 14h00 Examples of Specific Photocatalytic Applications: - Applications in Agriculture - Destruction of Diffuse Odours in the Environment - Applications of Photocatalysis in Deodorization - Applications of Photocatalysis in Confined Atmospheres - Self-Cleaning Materials (glass, concrete, …) - Integration of Photocatalysis in Air-Conditioning 17h00 Conclusions and Closing of the Conference

17h30 Control of Results and in situ Measurements Jean-Louis LABROSSE, Tera Technologie

In the rich context of this international seminar Ecrin-TANO aims to bring the most advanced world scientists together with the industrial partners of the domain so that, through their exchanges and interaction, some new perspectives in fundamental research can get more coherence and better focus. Ecrin-TANO who also works to foster technological advances in the treatment of air and water pollution would also like to make the most of these two days –when all the various aspects of photocatalysis are to be covered– to help raise industrialists’ interest for that very promising technological field and encourage them to take part in the development of related applications. A large enough number of industrial applications have already been delivered, or are going to be. What is important now is to examine how the performances of those can be increased: and it is quite predictable that better performances will allow the opening of photocatalysis to other fields of applications. The conclusions that will be reached by the end of this symposium should prove essential for the progress photocatalysis and its systematic developments towards the protection of the environment and non-destructive applications.
