The Ad IDEM Freedom of Expression Writing Prize/ Le prix de rédaction Ad IDEM sur la liberté d’expression Ad IDEM/Canadian Media Lawyers Association congratulates the winner of its inaugural writing prize for students writing on the topic of freedom of expression. Spencer Keys, a 2016 graduate of the University of British Columbia Allard School of Law, received the $2,500.00 prize for his paper entitled “Reconceptualizing Reputation and Defamation for Cyber Speech: an analysis of Baglow v Smith”. Ad IDEM/CMLA, the largest media lawyer organisation in Canada, is dedicated to the promotion and protection of freedom of expression throughout Canada. Our objective is “to reaffirm every day, in every court in our country, the importance of these freedoms.” Information concerning the 2017 Ad IDEM Freedom of Expression Writing Prize is found at http://www.adidem.org/The_Ad_IDEM_Freedom_of_Expression_Writing_Prize_2017 The deadline is May 30, 2017.
