III.4. Lists

A list seeks to identify, classify and target populations of recipients. This is a potential targeting tool.

A contact can be a member of several lists.

Warning: the list is static, it gathers the members of a same group at a specific moment. For a dynamic targeting, we will preferably use the filters.

Lists are created to highlight relatively frozen population. I.e: Test list for controlling a message content (Proof, control group…).

20

III.4 Group type list ■ A list of the Group type can only contain recipients. • To create the list, i.e: ‘Proof list’ (it will regroup all of the persons in charge of testing the content of a message before sending to the final target): - From the home page, use the Profiles and targets/ Lists (or by folders of the same name through the explorer) - Click on « Create » - Enter the label : « Proof list » - Click on the « Content » tab and on the « Add » button - Select the persons who are part of the list among the recipients - Click on « Save ». An information service features: a label, subscriptions and unsubscriptions, manual or automated, limited time service (trial period for instance), confirmation mecanisms (double opt-in…), etc. Out of the box, those comes with specific reports. Subscription / unsubscription operations of the services can be performed in three ways:  Manually  Through an import (service only)  Through web forms  The viral mode grants the creation of a sponsorship type service: « Forward to a friend »

III.6. Jobs

Jobs Import Adobe Campaign allows to import data, from one or several files  Those files are associated to a table, main or linked.  Each field of the source file is associated to a database field.  Import settings can be saved in order to schedule import jobs which will be automating the replication tasks. Export Adobe Campaign allows to export data from the base to a flat (txt or csv) or XML file

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

27

III.6. Jobs Import datas Preparation of the data to import – the source file has to take the following constraints in account:   

Each column corresponds to a database field Each line corresponds to a record The field content can be separated by characters

Import wizard

 Jobs menu  Clik on Save

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

28

III.6. Jobs Step 1: template selection

1. Select the template to use. Here : New text import. 2. Choose a label for the import and add a description if you wish.

3. Check the import type to make. Here : Simple import If we had multiple source files, we could have chosen Multiple import. 4. Select the folder where the operation jobs will be saved (logs, errors, etc.).

5. Click on Next. © 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

29

III.6. Jobs Etape 2 : File to import

1. Select the source file. 2. Click on Auto-Detect format

3. The file format definition must be verified, and the setting tuned. Click on the Change the file format : specify the column and strings separators and the data type for each field (integers, date time format, hours, etc).

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

31

III.6. Jobs Etape 3 : Field mapping 3. Map each source field to a destination path: click into the Destination path column on the field line, and unfold the list of available fields with the « Edit expression » icon and select the appropriate storage.

1. Select the schema(main table) into which you want to import the data (i.e: Recipients (nms) for the recipients).

2. Select each field to import by checking the box of the « source » column.

5. Cliquer sur Suivant.

4. For each imported field, it is possible to modify the letter case by clicking in the Transformation column.

The icons located into the right-hand side of the field list allows to access the following : Guess the destination fields : Adobe Campaign attempts to automatically match the field from the source file to the right destination paths. However, you will have to check the result of the automatic mapping. Add a calculated field : allows to perform complex operations, add virtual columns or merge the datas of several others.

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

32

III.6. Jobs Etape 4 : Reconciliation Operation types For each table, reconcile the datas from the source file with the database and establish priority rules between the datas of the file and those of the database.

Available operations are :     

Update or insert: update the record if it exists in the database, create it if needed. Insert: insert records without checking their existence before. Update: only update existing records (ignore or launch an error for the others). Reconciliation only: try to retrieve the database record, without updating it. Allows for instance to associate the recipient folder to import depending on a file column without having to update the folder data itself. Deletion : destroy database records.

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

33

III.6. Jobs Keys  

Besides a simple insertion, all the operations needs a reconciliation (including the deduplication). This reconciliation implies a key creation. A reconciliation key is a set of rule allowing to identify a record.

Here a reconciliation key has been set on the email field. To set a key, click on the first hyphen prior to the field name.

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

34

III.6. Jobs Example of keys for the recipients import: The reconciliation key can be an account number, the Email field or fields like Last Name + First Name + Company, etc. In the latter case, to know if a line of the file match an existing recipient in the database, the import engine will compare the file values with the one of the database for each field composing the key. 

It is possible to add a seconday reconciliation key for a same table. It will be used for the line if the first key is empty, like in the example below:

In this case, the main reconciliation key is composed of the Account number, and the secondary key with the Email + Last Name + First Name fields. 

In the case of importing recipients, the identifier of the selected folder is implicitely added to the key. As a result, the reconciliation is only performed on this folder (except if no folder is selected)

Click on Next

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

35

III.6. DOUBLES : record that can be found several times in the source DUPLICATES : record that is already into the Adobe Campaign database before the import

Doubles management   

Update: no deduplication. Last record will remain. Reject entity : doubles are excluded, an error will be logged for each double encountered. Ignore : doubles are excluded, we do not want to write an error log for each encountered double.

Duplicates management   

It only concerns operations with an Update part (Update or insert or Update). In case of a duplicate, we can: Update, Ignore or Reject entity (create an error). The Update or insert depending on the origin concerns the priority between multiple files (brokers). The Origin field of the recipient table will be used.

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

36

III.6. Jobs Step 5 : Importing recipients Now we have to specify where will the imported records will be created: the storage folder and the associated list if needed.

Click on Edit and select the folder / group. 

We can also subscribe imported recipient to a service. Click on Edit and select the service.

The recipients origin (origin of the file...) can be specified on this screen, in order to respect legal obligations of the countries in which the origin of the file must be stored. Select the origin in the dropdown list or create it if it does not exists yet.

© 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. Adobe Confidential.

37

III.6. Jobs Etape 6 : Launch the import 

Click on Start A progress bar indicates the progress of the import process

Examining the potential errors (irrelevant line format, invalid e-mail, etc.) Errors and warnings generated by the import engine can be seen in the execution folder, by default : Profiles and targets / Jobs / Generic imports and exports

Select in the job list the import.

The import properties details screen contains 3 themes: General, Audit and Rejects.
