Supplement to manual Merlin Medium „Motor“ The paraglider Merlin M „Motor“ is exactly the same than the normal Merlin Medium MZL GS 01-1388-05. Just the special paramotor-risers are different! For using the Merlin M „Motor“ for flying with a paramotor the manual of the Merlin M of the 01.06.2005 is valid with the following modifications : 6. 8. Adjusting the brake-lines: By using the special paramotor-risers with it´s two different points of suspension, it maybe can be necessary to adjust the length of the brake-lines. Thereby the brakelines must have at least a free space of 5cm to make sure that the complete speed window of the glider can be used. Too short brake-lines affect the safety of the paraglider! 9.4.: Straight flight: Additional: By using the trimmer of the risers, the torque of the motor can be compensated. 9.5.: Accelerated flight: If flying with a paramotor it´s only allowed to use the rear trimmer of the riser for the acceleration of the glider! The frontal speedsystem with the rilley-rolls is only for the normal flight without paramotor! It´s not allowed to use the rear trimmer for normal flying without paramotor! To make this sure you have to use only the lower suspension point for normal flying without paramotor and have to attach the loop of the trimmer on the carbines of the harness. (as shown on the picture) Bei using the trimmers the angle of attack gets smaller and the glider accelerates. Thereby the canopy can collapse more easy in turbulent conditions, especially if flown without thrust. Out of this reason we recommend to use the trimmer only in calm conditions . The glider´s reactions on collapses of the canopy and frontal stalls are much more dynamic with open trimmers! Advice for flying with a powered trike: The geometry o f the Merlin´s lines has been optimized for a risers´ distance of 55cm. A bigger distance of the risers on a trike has a n important influence of the geometry of the glider and o f the flight behaviour. If you want to use the Merlin with a trike, this combination has to be checked by the manufacturer and the DULV.
