The JaiFlash flash chromatography unit enables you to perform high efficiency separations using new universal, pre-packed cartridges filled with the most common sorbents. JaiFlash is designed for both routine use and research applications- being robust and flexible.

Safe • JaiFlash uses a standard 2.5L solvent bottle- no need to decant hazardous solvents. • Solvent path is Teflon- reducing the potential for sparks generated by static current. • A manometer constantly monitors the gas pressure.

Flexible • JaiFlash can hold all common sizes of cartridges. • Different cartridge sizes may be selected without changing the holder. • Cartridges may be placed in series or in parallel to improve resolution or productivity.

Easy to use • Cartridges are held in a simple twist and lock holder- easy to change. • The unit uses in-house pressurised gas (air or nitrogen) - easy to plumb in. • Samples are easily introduced • Liquid samples may be loaded directly on the top of the cartridge using a zero dead volume valve. • Solid samples and those with poor solubility can be pre- adsorbed on silica and placed in the Variable Volume Sample Introduction Module.

The solvent reservoir is housed inside a compression module allowing the safe use of a standard solvent bottle

Gyan cartridges are manufactured as a single moulded piece with standard fittings to eliminate leakage and the need for messy fluid connectors. The thick walls remove the need for an external metal holder and the universal fittings allow them to be used on other manufacturers instruments. Gyan cartridges are available with a variety of packing materials and dimensions. Reverse phase packing (C18, C8, C4, NH2, Diol, CN) are available on request. Due to their unique design, Gyan cartridges can be used singularly or in series. In this way it is possible to double the loading or the efficiency. Gyan cartridges Gyan cartridges are supplied with a batch chromatogram

EasiPump is a new versatile family of pumps designed for Flash Chromatography. There are a number of systems available for different requirements: • Isocratic low flow rate (up to 250 ml/min at 5.5bar) • Gradient low flow rate • Isocratic high flow rate (up to 750 ml/min at 8.7bar) • Gradient high flow rate All systems are designed to be suitable for all common applications and are easy to set up. The flow rates are accurate and the pump is very compact to save valuable bench space.

Easy to use • EasiPump is virtually maintenance free. • The system is easy to prime. Simply press and hold the prime button for a few moments to prime with a new solvent. • The pump can be used to produce a solvent mixture on line during an isocratic run. This means that it is no longer necessary to pre-mix solvents- saving time, money and possible exposure to hazardous solvents.

Safe • The motor is magnetically coupled to the pump head - minimising the risk of solvents coming into contacts with sparks. • The magnetic coupling also provides a pressure safety limit. If the pressure exceeds the maximum limit, the coupling will start to slip and the flow slows down or stops. • A sophisticated microprocessor controls the motor speed to maintain a constant flow rate.

Gradient Control • The high response times of the Teflon proportioning valves enable very precise and repeatable gradient programs.

EasiPump demonstrated a very high linearity. This quality is particularly important to generate accurate gradients. This good linearity is a result of very high efficiency in mixing the two solvents used to generate the gradient.

EasiPump Linearity Graph shows the excellent linearity of the EasiPump system.

Linearity

Precise & Reproducible The precision and accuracy of EasiPump were tested using both isocratic and gradient runs. The results show that the standard deviation is better than 0.5 %. The EasiPump family are designed to perform with very high reproducibility. This is particularly important if the pumps are used to generate solvent mixtures online. The pump will produce a very precise and reproducible mixture with the extra benefit of producing only the exact amount of mobile phase you need, reducing the amount of waste solvent.

EasiFlash is more than a new instrument, it is a new way to perform Flash Chromatography. Every single part of the sophisticated system was designed to maximise ease of use and reduce the time needed for each purification.

Easy to use • EasiFlash is easy to program- the powerful electronics system provides full flexible control. • A novel four-way valve is used to inject liquid samples. - This ensures the sample is applied homogeneously on to the top of the cartridge. - There is no need to stop the pump during sample injection

Flexible • The flow rate is programmable and is suitable for all common cartridges. • Cartridges of different dimensions can be used with the same holder. • A 12 mm ID cartridge holder can be installed into the position occupied by the EasiPlunger. This can be used to purify small amounts of sample or develop particular methods.

Portable • EasiFlash is made with lightweight aluminium and has an integral handle to enable it to be moved easily in the laboratory.

Safety • All the electrical parts are completely isolated from the liquid path. • Only Teflon and stainless steel is in contact with the solvent.

Solid Sample Module The Solid Sample Module is a patented system used for introducing your sample when it is not soluble in the mobile phase. This is performed in four easy steps: 1. Pre-absorb the sample onto some silica 2. Place the silica inside a cartridge 3. Insert plunger and lock 4. Insert the EasiPlunger into the cartridge

Loading the Solid Sample Module takes just a matter of seconds- it does not require the use of screws or any force to close it.

EasiHolder EasiHolder is a new patented system to hold flash chromatography cartridges.

Easy to use • Put cartridge in place • Lower head of holder • Push down on sealing lever No tightening or finger strength is necessary to enable the system to work with pressures up to 100 psi.

Flexible With EasiHolder it is possible to use all common sized cartridges.

RS232 Version EasiFlash is available also with RS232 and Software (EasiSoft). With this interface EasiFlash can drive different valves to recycle, make a back flush after a run, collect sample fractions, and many other important functions. It can also collect signals from Detectors to generate a chromatogram.

EasiSoft EasiSoft is a very powerful tool containing many features for method development. By using a TLC plate of the sample it will predict how a flash separation will look. Once a cartridge has been selected the optimal flow rate is calculated, including the gradient profile to help the pump programming. From the TLC data it is possible to automatically obtain the maximum loading capacity of each cartridge. The software can also be used to calculate the mixing ratio of new solvents so if one solvent is changed, it will calculate the mixture required to give the same solvent power as the original mixture. EasiSoft will also calculate the parameters for scaling up a separation performed with small cartridges.

EasiBox EasiBox is an accessory that is used to load a program from a PC (using EasiSoft) and download it to an EasiFlash. In this way the instrument can be used without a fixed connection to a PC. For larger sample separations from a few grams up to about 250g it is necessary to use a new cartridge design. When the solvent flows through large columns it may flow along channels in the silica rather than through the silica itself which can adversely affect the separation.

Patended Design - 360° Compression Conventional systems compress either radially or axially, both of which can compromise performance. The JumboFlash system uses a unique patented system to solve this problem. By compressing the cartridge between two stainless steel shells, the cartridge is compressed from all directions eliminating both preferential paths and bridging.

The Gyan system maintains the homogeneity of the packing material during the run, improving the performance of the cartridge. Turning the bar on the top of the holder applies an axial compression while the two shells compress the cartridge inwards. This design also allows easy removal of the used cartridge after the run even if it has swollen. The internal geometry on both the top and the bottom of the cartridge maximize the column performance, increasing the efficiency and improving the columns loading capability.

Flexibility Cartridges of different lengths (but with the same diameter) can be used in the same holder. For samples that need to be pre-adsorbed on silica the Solid Sample Introduction Module or smaller Sample Cartridges can be used. These are available with special holders that fit directly on the JumboFlash holder with a zero dead volume.

High Performance A special patented frit system ensures that the sample is placed uniformly on the column, optimising the conditions for a good separation.

Ease of use The JumboFlash Chromatography Systems work with the EasiPumps (see specific leaflet). These pumps can provide both isocratic and binary flow rates of up to 750ml/min. The “S” Version pumps have an RS 232 interface and are supplied together with EasiSoft flash chromatography software. EasiSoft will perform calculations to scale up separations made with smaller cartridges. It enables the system to control valves that allow the back flushing of the column at the end of each run, solvent recycling and sample fraction collection. EasiPump can receive signal from a detector to produce chromatograms.

Easy Scale up from few grams to hundreds of grams Flexibility The JumboFlash line has two instruments that are able to work with cartridges that have 80 mm and 140 mm ID’s. This allows the purification of samples from 40 grams up to 250 grams. Using the EasiPump it is possible to generate gradient flow rates from 750 ml/min to 1,500 ml/min to be used with the 80 mm and 140 mm ID columns respectively. It is possible to use the JumboFlash systems with UV detectors and with Fraction collectors of any type.

Full automation Using EasiPump with RS 232 and EasiSoft enables the system to receive signals from a detector and, based on time windows and/or signal level, collect different samples using a fraction collector or valve. Additional valve control allows the automatic back flush of the column for quick column regeneration.

Solid Samples Both the JumboFlash 80 and 140 systems can use two different types of solid sample injection systems. These allow the introduction of samples that have been pre-adsorbed on silica. Disposable cartridges for this application are also available. To use these cartridges a sample simply has to be dissolved in a strong solvent, poured on top of the silica and place in a vacuum oven (to remove the solvent). This procedure also extends the cartridge life by preventing the strongly retaining components from reaching the column.

EasiSoft EasiSoft is a very powerful tool containing many features for method development. By using a TLC plate of the sample it will predict how a flash separation will look. EasiSoft will also calculate the parameters for scaling up a separation performed with small cartridges and recommend alternative solvent systems. For more information see the specific leaflet.

Safety The JumboFlash family of instruments are designed with particular attention to safety. EasiPump is magnetically driven to avoid possible contact between solvent and electrical parts. If the back pressure increases too much the magnet simply slips and the flow is reduced or stopped. The complete system is earthed to discharge the static current that is generated by non-polar solvents flowing inside Teflon tubes. Available for the following sizes: √ 80 mm id x 180 mm length (400 gr silica) √ 80 mm id x 340 mm length (800 gr silica) √ 140 mm id x 205 mm length (1,250 gr silica) √ 140 mm id x 330 mm length (2,500 gr silica) available with silica, C18, Al2O3
