2016 D2CCA Baseball All-Midwest Region Team

Snyder and Sittinger Named Player and Pitcher Of The Year Rolla, Mo. – Quincy’s Ryan Snyder and Ashland’s Brandyn Sittinger headline the 2016 D2CCA Baseball All-Midwest Region First Team. They were named the Midwest Region Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, as selected by the region’s sports information directors. Snyder, a senior outfielder from St. Louis, Mo., was the Player of the Year in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. He hit .447 and led the Hawks and the GLVC in batting average, home runs (20), runs batted in (80), slugging percentage (.884), on-base percentage (.530), total bases (168) and walks (32). His 20 home runs are tied for eighth best in Division II this season. Snyder is a two-time selection to the AllGLVC team. He helped lead the Hawks to a 37-16 mark and the number one seed in the Midwest Regional. Sittinger, a starting pitcher for the Eagles from LaGrange, Ohio, has made 13 appearances on the mound this season and was the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Pitcher of the Year. He is 10-0 with a 2.34 earned run average in 80 and two-thirds innings pitched and has struck out 117 batters while holding the opposition to a .207 batting average. Sittinger has thrown five complete games and two shutouts. He is fourth on Ashland’s all-time single season strikeout list. Joining Snyder and Sittinger on the first team are Hillsdale’s Chris McDonald (Utility Pitcher), Ethan Wiskur (DH) and Luke Ortel (OF); Bellarmine’s Hunter Spencer (SP) and Cole Metcalfe (3B); Alderson Broaddus’s Tyler Stage (SP); Ashland’s J.P. Sorma (Utility Non-Pitcher); Grand Valley’s Matt Williams (RP); Indianapolis’s Anthony Asalon (2B); Kentucky Wesleyan’s Troy Parris (1B); Lake Erie’s Lucas Raley (OF); Missouri S&T’s Aaron Bedsworth (SP); Southern Indiana’s Kyle Niemeier (SS); and William Jewell’s Garrett McKinzie (C). The second team is comprised of Southern Indiana’s Ryan Bertram (C), Devin Williams (SP) and Kyle Kempf (OF); Alderson Broaddus’s Randy Dobnak (SP) and Jordan Martin (SS); Missouri-St. Louis’s Kurt McGuire (SP) and Austin Simokaitis (RP); Quincy’s Dominic Miles (OF) and Justin Blechle (Utility NonPitcher); Wayne State’s Alex Kinch (SP) and Griffin Harms (OF); Ashland’s Mackenzie Hampshire; Indianapolis’s Matthew Kaplanis (SP); Missouri S&T’s Eil Miller (OF); Rockhurst’s Henry Weiler (Utility Pitcher); Trevecca Nazarene’s Tyler Tichenor (2B) and Bryson Shelton (DH); Tiffin’s Nick Huenberg (3B) and William Jewell’s Austin Kretchmar (SP). All 16 first-team All-Region selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America Consideration. The All-America teams are scheduled to be released on Friday, May 27. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
