Upcoming GLVC schedule: Saturday, Nov. 12 *Missouri S&T at Quincy, 1 p.m. *Southwest Baptist at Lincoln, 1 p.m. *Truman State at McKendree, 1 p.m. *Saint Joseph’s at Indianapolis, 3 p.m. End of regular season; NCAA Division II playoffs begin Nov. 19.

Missouri S&T plays its final game of the 2016 season Saturday as it heads to Quincy, Ill., to face Quincy in a 1 p.m. game. The winner will finish the season at the .500 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference at 4-4. S&T comes in at 4-6 overall, while the Hawks are at 5-5; both teams are looking to end a losing streak at three games. Braxton Graham comes into Saturday’s game needing 89 receiving yards to become the first Miner since 2010 (Chad Shockley) to finish a year with at least 1,000. Graham already owns the sixth-best single season mark with 911 yards and the five above him all exceeded the 1,000-yard mark. Graham has also accumulated at least 100 all-purpose yards in 16 of his last 17 games and in 18 of the 21 games he has played as a Miner. His 301 yards against West Florida was the most by a Miner since 2007 and is one of just 15 300-yard performances in NCAA Division II this season. The 1,557 yards Graham has this season are the third-most by a Miner in history. The Miners have recorded 89 tackles for a loss this season, the third-most in a year for an S&T team since 1987. With three more stops behind the line of scrimmage, S&T can pass the 2011 team that had 91; the school record is 108, set two seasons ago. Missouri S&T has already extended a streak in the 2016 season, as the Miners have had at least one return -- kickoff, punt, interception or fumble -- for a touchdown in 12 consecutive years. S&T has two interception returns and a fumble returned for a score this year. The three defensive scores are one short of the Miners’ single season mark of four set in 1969 and tied in 2011.

Entering Saturday’s game, Missouri S&T has scored on 30 of 35 possessions in which it has advanced at least to the opponents’ 20-yard line. S&T in 31st in Division II in red zone offense.

The Miners had a streak end last week where a quarterback accounted for a touchdown in 25 straight games. S&T’s quarterbacks have thrown a touchdown pass in 30 of the last 34 contests.

Placekicker Ben Styron, who tied the S&T and GLVC records with his four field goals in the win over William Jewell, has made four field goals from at least 40 yards away this season. He is the first S&T kicker with three 40-plus field goals since Jim Zacny in 1985.

Missouri S&T’s defense has recorded at least 30 sacks in each of fhe last six seasons -- S&T had five last week to surpass that mark -- and has notched 222 sacks since the start of the 2011 season. S&T’s 185 sacks since 2012 is the the most among the six originial GLVC football schools.

MATCHUP TO WATCH: Quincy’s punting game: This season, the Hawks have a net punting average of just 25.3 yards per punt and have allowed teams to return kicks for an average of 15.7 yards on 18 runbacks. S&T’s Braxton Graham is currently third in NCAA Division II with an average of 18.2 yards per return and as a team, the Miners are averaging 12.6 yards per return.

2016 MISSOURI S&T FOOTBALL 2 S&T Head Coach Tyler Fenwick:

Tyler Fenwick is in his fourth season at the helm of Missouri S&T’s football program. Fenwick, the 19th head coach in the history of the S&T program, was the first to lead the Miners to a winning season in his first year as head coach since 1914. Fenwick came to S&T after a successful six-season stint as offensive coordinator at Missouri Western; the Griffons played in the post-season in each of those six years, including an appearance in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals in 2012. MWSU was 53-18 during the six years Fenwick served on its staff. He is a native of Los Angeles, Calif. and also coached at Occidental College in California for four years and at Minnesota State University at Moorhead for a year before joining the staff at Missouri Western. He played collegiately as a wide receiver at Los Angeles Valley College and at the University of New Mexico.

Graham’s big season:

Missouri S&T’s Braxton Graham, named earlier this year as the GLVC’s “Player of the Week” on special teams, had had two big games where he has reached some high water marks. On Sept. 10 at West Florida, he set a league record by returning a punt 93 yards for a touchdown and piled up 301 all-purpose yards that ranks third on the Miners’ all-time list. It is one of seven times in GLVC history that a player accumulated at least 300 all-purpose yards. On Oct. 1 against William Jewell, Graham recorded career highs in receptions with 15 and yards with 186 in the Miners’ victory over the Cardinals. Graham had 212 all-purpose yards in the game, his fourth career game and second this year with at least 200 yards. Graham enters Saturday’s game with 1,557 all-purpose yards this season, the third-highest in a year in school history and the most since Ashton Gronewold’s record 2,250 in 2007.

GLVC Players with 300 all-purpose yards in a game:

452, Thomas Cook, William Jewell vs. Saint Joseph’s, Oct. 20, 2012 387, Jeff Ward, Kentucky Wesleyan vs. Lindenwood-Belleville, Oct. 13, 2012 387, Anthony Mullins, William Jewell vs. Indianapolis, Oct. 31, 2015 375, Eric Poindexter, Quincy vs. William Jewell, Oct. 8, 2016 326, Jeff Ward, Kentucky Wesleyan vs. Lindsey Wilson, Sept. 14, 2013 321, Malik Higgins, Indianapolis vs. Marian, Sept. 10, 2016 301, Braxton Graham, Missouri S&T vs. West Florida, Sept. 10, 2016

Styron ties GLVC mark, chases S&T standard:

In the win over William Jewell, Missouri S&T’s kicker Ben Styron tied a GLVC record by kicking four goals. He made kicks from 42 -- the longest by a Miner since 2013 -- 32, 37 and 32 yards away. He had a chance to break the record, but his fifth attempt of the night was blocked. Styron tied the mark set earlier that day by Lincoln’s Alex Templeton and was tied again two weeks ago by McKendree’s Steven O’Block in the game against S&T. With 11 field goals this season, Styron is just two shy of the S&T single season mark set by Joe Drahos in 2009 of 13. He is also the first kicker since 1985 to make four field goals of 40 yards or longer in the same season.

Scoring streak:

Missouri S&T comes into this weekend’s contest having scored in each of its last 62 games, which is the second-longest such streak in school history. The current string, which started on Sept. 17, 2011, trails only the record 70-game streak from 2002-09. In addition, the Miners have also scored in each of their last 41 road games which also ranks third on the all-time list for consecutive road games with points. The only longer ones were the 43-game string that preceded the current one (2001-09) one of 45 from 1975-84.

Fastest starts in GLVC history:

The Miners’ score 55 seconds against Bacone marked the 12th time in GLVC history that a team scored in the opening minute of play. Missouri S&T owns the fastest score in league history -- six seconds on a safety in last year’s game with Saint Joseph’s -- and is tied for the second-fastest at 15 seconds when Spencer Elrod returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown in 2014 at Midwestern State. The Miners and William Jewell are the only teams on the list of what is now 14 that have scored three times in the opening minute of action.

Quick Hits on Quincy:

Quincy enters its season finale looking to clinch just its second winning season since 2009, as the Hawks are 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC. Since beating Indianapolis on Oct. 15 to improve to 5-2, the Hawks have dropped three in a row and five of seven since winning their first three games of the year.

The Hawks own the GLVC’s top defense, allowing just 317.2 yards per game and are among the top three in both rushing and passing defense; the 171.6 yards per game allowed are fewest in the conference and 17th-fewest in NCAA Division II. Adehkeem Brown is second in the GLVC with five interceptions, while linebacker Cody Leonard has a team-best 70 tackles.

Wide receiver Eric Poindexter, who has the GLVC’s top all-purpose yard mark of the season with 375 against William Jewell in October, is fourth nationally in that department with 189.2 yards per game. Poindexter has caught 61 passes for a leaguehigh 1,218 yards and 13 touchdowns, primarily on throws from Robbie Kelley, who has completed 58 percent of his throws for 2,290 yards and 22 scores on the season.

Quincy is averaging 163.4 yards per game on the ground -- the third-best average in the league -- largely behind Jaylan James who has 735 yards and is averaging 4.2 yards per carry. The Hawks have had four games this season where they have ran for 200 or more yards as team.

Series history with Quincy:

The Miners lead the all-time series with the Hawks 6-3 and have split the four matchups in Quincy. The Miners won last year’s game 42-35 in Rolla behind four touchdown passes from Tyler Swart; S&T’s defense forced a turnover on Quincy’s final possession to wrap up the victory. Quincy won the last meeting it hosted between the teams, a 20-13 decision at Flynn Stadium (the Hawks now play on campus) by scoring a late touchdown to pull out the win. That was the only win in four matchups for the Hawks over the Miners since the GLVC began sponsoring football in 2012.

A victory over Quincy would:

-- Give the Miners a final record of 5-6 for the season; S&T would finish at .500 season in GLVC play at 4-4. -- Give the Miners their second straight win over Quincy and fourth in five GLVC contests with the Hawks. -- Give the Miners a win in their season finale for the fifth consecutive year; would be the third over Quincy in that span. -- Give S&T its second road victory of the season; the Miners also won at Saint Joseph’s on Sept. 24.
