stage 1: before starting

You have received: - an installation CD-ROM for your Business Everywhere connection kit - a USIM card (only for packs allowing connections on the mobile networks) - a PC card (if ordered by your administrator) - a broadband modem (Orange Livebox or USB), if your administrator has subscribed to this option

Your codes Ensure that your administrator has sent you the confidential Business Everywhere codes (identification and password): -

the Corporate’s Intranet account the Orange Wi-Fi access account the Wi-Fi partner account* the Orange Internet (ADSL) account*

Your configuration file The Business Everywhere configuration file (xxx.spd, xxx.eac or xxx.cfgz file), sent by your administrator, must have been already saved on your laptop computer’s hard disk (on the desktop or directory of your choice).

stage 3: installing the Business Everywhere kit

installation process

1. if an earlier version than the V104.7 Business Everywhere kit is already installed on your laptop, you must first uninstall it by clicking Start > Programmes > Access Companion > Uninstall Access Companion and restart your computer. For version 104.7 or later, the installation will ask you to restart your computer before being able to continue, your connection codes are migrated. You may find out the version of your current Business Everywhere kit, via the “Help” menu then “About”. 2. ensure that your laptop network connection is not connected 3. de-activate your anti-virus program as this may slow down the installation process 4. insert the Business Everywhere installation CD-ROM and follow the installation instructions. If the CD does not automatically start, double click the “Work station” icon on the desktop then click the CD-ROM reader icon and finally double click “Install_kit_be_pack.exe”. 5. follow the installation instructions which will appear on the screen (See following page)

> Before installing, check that your antivirus has been de-activated and that the documents open in the applications have been saved. It is recommended that all applications are closed while installing Business Everywhere.

> The installation will begin. The installation assistant copies the files required by your laptop. A progress bar shows the progress of the installation.

stage 4: registering your credentials

After having restarted your laptop the Everywhere application opens for the first time. You are offered to configure your different accounts (1 login + 1 password): - the Corporate’s Intranet account (Identification of type : [email protected]) - the Orange Wifi access account - the Wi-Fi partners account*

Once these codes have been entered, move on to the following stage to install the connection equipment (card, modem). The accounts may be entered at a later stage, select “Configure later” then click “Continue” to move onto the following stage.

stage 5: installing your connection equipment

your PC card*

Your PC card allows you to access the 3G+**/3G/EDGE/GPRS mobile high speed networks. 1.

carefully detach the USIM card from its plastic holder. The connections are fragile, avoid touching them when handling the card.

2.

insert the USIM card into the PC card checking that it is facing the right direction: the bevelled edge of the card must fit perfectly into the shape of the location and the gold contacts on the USIM card must face downwards towards the inside of the connection card

3.

insert the PC card into its housing in the laptop. The card’s raised edge must remain outside the laptop. Enter the PIN for the USIM card (as a default this number is 0000). To change the PIN, please see the section configuration > advanced network parameters > adding a mobile device.

wait for a few moments for the kit to detect the mobile network

To use your ADSL modem (USB or Ethernet) you must have first created your «ADSL (USB or Ethernet) network». 1. Go to Tools & Settings > Advanced Settings > Network > Add/Remove a network > Add a network

2. Click “Add a network” and select “(USB or Eth) ADSL at home access” from the drop down list

starting a connection When the connection kit is launched, the system searches for the available networks and then displays them. Important: your administrator must have activated the international option for overseas connections. Select from one of the two following modes to connect:

> “Automatic Selection” mode

With “Automatic Selection”, Business Everywhere uses the first available network in compliance with the defined order of preference. If the connection fails, the application attempts to establish a connection with the first available network. The order of default networks may be modified from the drop down list by going to: Tools and Settings > Advanced Settings> Network > Networks order. As a default the order is: LAN (hotel) / internet ADSL / Wi-Fi / mobile (3G+*/3G/EDGE/GPRS). NB: The PSTN is not taken into account by the “Automatic Selection” mode

Connexion via a Wi-Fi hotspot in a hotel

You can use Business Everywhere to connect you via a Wi-Fi hotspot in a hotel. To proceed, before launch of your Business Everywhere connection kit, activate your Wi-Fi antenna and launch your Internet navigator. The Wi-Fi hotspot’s homepage authentification; Enter your :

If your PC is already connected to Internet, you can use the Business Everywhere via Internet connection.

To proceed, select Start> Programs> Oranges Business Services> Business Everywhere via Internet*.

Click this icon with right button, and select « Start VPN client ».

To close the connection, repeat the last operation and select « Stop VPN client »

To quit the Business Everywhere via Internet mode, repeat last operation and select « Quit ».

■ Use the “Standby & Hibernate mode” mode to define the parameters for Business Everywhere in Standby and Hibernate mode. There are three options: - Maintain connection when possible. - Disconnect. - Prevent from Standby and Hibernate modes. ■ Tick “Switch off wireless connection when closing application” to deactivate the mobile radio signal when the application is closed. ■ Tick “Inform me of available updates” to be kept up to date with the latest Business Everywhere updates. ■ Click “Check for new updates” to install the available updates. Internet access is essential when installing an update.

Mobile

The “Mobile” menu offers two options: “Connect in” and “Mobile operator” ■ “Connect in” This option allows the selection of the type of network to which you wish to be connected. Three possibilities: Auto, EDGE/GPRS, 3G/3G+. >When Automatic is selected, Business Everywhere chooses the best network for your location. You may also try to force a connection mode: EDGE/GPRS or 3G+*/3G. ■ “Mobile operator” The mobile operator field provides a list of available operators. Auto: Business Everywhere automatically connects to Orange or to a partner network while roaming. Manual: To select an operator connection while roaming.

searching for a Wi-Fi hotspot

This function is used to find a Wi-Fi hotspot while moving. For example, before leaving this function it allows you to check if a Hotspot will be present near to your destination. This is a data base defined in advance containing a list of national and international hotspots (Orange wifi access + partner Hotspots).

The following window is displayed.

Select a country from the list. You may then fill in some of the following fields: Name (e.g. hotel name), Address, Post code, town or category. Click “Search for Hotspots” to display the search results (See following page).

Click “Reports” to consult or save information on recent Mobile, Wi-Fi, LAN and PSTN/ISDN connections.

The connection counter may also be returned to zero in order to find out the size and amount of data used.

Results are classified according to connection type. Click a type of connection to display the corresponding results.

This information may be exported to your laptop in .csv or .txt format.

”Standby and hibernate mode manager” There are three options in the drop down menu: ■ “Maintain connection when possible”: if your laptop goes into standby, Business Everywhere maintains the network connection (if possible) ■ “Disconnect”: Business Everywhere shuts down the network connection when the laptop goes into Standby ■ “Prevent from Standby and Hibernate modes”: Business Everywhere prevents your laptop from going into Standby and hibernate while it is connected

“On Windows logon”: ■ “No Launch”: Business Everywhere is not started on opening the Windows session. The application must be manually started. ■ “Launch Systray”: on opening the Windows session, Business Everywhere automatically opens in the systray. ■ “Launch Systray and standard mode”: on opening the Windows session, Business Everywhere automatically opens in standard mode and in the systray.

“Systray on connection” Tick this box to minimise Business Everywhere to the systray whilst connected.

Customise Buttons zone

This option allows the addition or deletion of buttons from the main dashboard. ■ Three buttons are displayed as a default. Only their place on the screen may be changed and whether to display them or not. They cannot be deleted from the list. ■ Use the “Up” and “Down” buttons to change their position on the dashboard. ■ Up to 6 personalised buttons may be displayed.

5. If the new button is to start another application, tick “Executable file” and indicate the file to be started using the button “Browse”. 6. Click OK to save your changes. 7. Once this has been added, the new button will appear on the list on the left. Select it and click “Move”.

The new button is now in the list of displayed buttons. The button will appear on the dashboard from now on.

To change the button parameters, select it from the list and click “Edit”.

To delete a button from the dashboard, select it from the list and click “Remove”. The button then returns to the list on the left. To fully delete it, select it on this list and click “Del”.

Web & Email :

“Home page” ■ ”Do not modify (default name)”: the default Internet home page is displayed on opening the Web browser page. ■ “URL”: if the address is to be changed, tick this box and enter the URL for the welcome page.

“Web button” Select the web browser you want to launch with the “Web” button. If the web browser is to be changed, select one from the drop down menu.

“Email button” ■ Select the mail application you want to launch with the “Email” button. If the messaging application is to be changed, select one from the drop down menu. ■ If the “Automatically establish the connection” option is selected, the connection for the mail application is automatically established on starting Business Everywhere

Click OK to save and exit. Click Cancel to exit without saving.

Corporate proxy:

This section allows the Business Everywhere application to be configured to use your Corporate proxy. This information must be obtained from your network administrator.

■ “No proxy”: select this option if Business Everywhere is not to use a proxy ■ “Use LAN configuration”: select this option to use the proxy defined in the Internet explorer (Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0) in the tab: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Network Parameters ■ “Dynamic proxy”: if this option is selected a dynamic proxy must be entered (.pac extension ). An applet containing a proxy address is then started ■ “Static proxy”: if this option is selected a static proxy must be indicated as well as the proxy address, the proxy port and the addresses to be excluded.

Select this option to receive information about the available updates for Business Everywhere (E.g. updating the Business Everywhere kit and phonebooks). You must have Internet access to be informed about available updates.

Alert thresholds You can define consumption thresholds in Business Everywhere, in megabytes and/or in duration. When one of those thresholds is reached, you can choose to receive an alert message and/or be disconnected automatically. This functionality has no contractual value, and cannot be compared against real data consumption invoiced by Orange Business Services. It allows you to receive an alert message according to a threshold you can freely define.

Thresholds for the following network : ƒ

Mobile – #1 – Home : this treshold only concerns the mobile data traffic in France.

ƒ

Mobile - #1 – Roaming : this threshold concerns the mobile data traffic in roaming situations, i.e. abroad. Such connections may have a specific tariff plan.

ƒ

Mobile – total : sums both home and roaming data traffic.

You can define two types of alert thresholds : ƒ

Duration (recommanded for usage in France) : allows to define a maximum period of duration.

ƒ

Volume (recommanded for international usage) : allows to define a maximum volume of data exchanged.

Finally, Reset the statistics on allows to automatically reset the counters on a specific monthly date.

Tick “Activate the automatic reconnection mode” to authorise automatic reconnections in the event of any connection failure. ■ “WEP” or “WPA”: Select “None”, “WEP” or “WPA” depending on the security mode being used and enter the relevant parameters. Parameters cannot be personalised for other Wi-Fi networks.

Consult your network administrator in the event of any problem.

Remove a network 1. got to Tools & Settings > Advanced Settings > Network > Add/Remove a network > Delete a network

Networks order:

If the automatic connection is used, the order of priority can be defined for the network selection by using the buttons “Up” and “Down” on the right of the screen. Highest priority is given to the network at the top of the list. As a default the list is: Hotel LAN / ADSL at home / Wi-Fi / mobile (3G+*/3G/EDGE/GPRS).

Adding a device:

After installation, it is possible to add devices which will be recognised by your Business Everywhere kit. The following devices may be added: ■ Mobile device ■ Wi-Fi device ■ ADSL USB modem ■ PSTN/ISDN modem ■ Ethernet modem

managing your SMS messages

Click SMS. Received messages are displayed in the Inbox. Business Everywhere will also ask if you want to send messages saved in your Outbox. Highlight the message to display the whole message in the frame located under the Inbox. To delete a message, select it and click “Delete”. Messages may also be replied, forwarded and printed by clicking the corresponding buttons. To save these messages, create a file: click “Inbox”, select one or more messages then drag the messages to the new file using the mouse.

sending a SMS message

1. click “New message” 2. to send the message to one of your saved contacts, tick “Contacts”, then select the contact and the telephone number from the drop down menu. To send a message to a new number, tick “Telephone number (s)” and enter it. To send a message to several numbers, insert a comma followed by a space between each number as follows: « ... +3361234567; +3367654321... ». You may also add contacts saved in the list of recipients. To do this, click “Add a contact”, select the required contacts, then click OK. 3. write your message in the lower frame. An SMS message may contain up to 160 characters. Above this number, a second message is sent and billed. The tariff also takes into account the number of recipients. 4. click “Send”. The message is saved in the “Outbox” file 5. once sent, it is saved in the “Sent items” file

If you choose to synchronise contacts from your mobile telephone to your laptop ■ each line corresponds to a telephone number to be synchronised ■ the first column contains the contact’s name contained on the USIM card to be copied. A suffix is added depending on the type of number added ■ the second column displays the name or number of a contact if it is already saved in the PC’s memory or “Create” if the contact is not already in the PC’s memory ■ the third column indicates the type of contact ■ the fourth column indicates if you are adding a new contact or if you are deleting an existing contact ■ tick the box for each contact in the fifth column and click OK if synchronisation is to be continued

If you choose to synchronise contacts from your laptop to your mobile telephone mobile ■ each line corresponds to a telephone number to be synchronised ■ the first column contains the contact as it appears in the laptop’s memory ■ the second column displays the contact as it appears in the memory of your USIM card, or “Creation” if it is not already in its memory ■ the third column indicates if you are adding, modifying or deleting the contact Tick the box beside each contact and click OK to start the synchronisation. to open the SMS Options menu.

The menu has three tabs:

“Contacts management” This tab allows the address book for the laptop to be selected (Outlook Express, for example) used by Business Everywhere. Contacts saved in the USIM card memory or device may also be displayed. These contacts may then be saved on your laptop using the last option in this tab.

“Text Message Management” You may read messages from the USIM card memory, your device or both. This tab offers you options when sending messages. You may choose to save a copy of sent messages in memory or to receive acknowledgements of receipt for your messages.

”Information” This tab displays information in the USIM card memory and device used for Business Everywhere including space available for new SMS messages and the signal strength.
