The Goal of This Operation The goal of Operation « MONT‐BLANC RACE for AFRICA RUN ʺ is to financially help the 2007 project of this association towards its humanitarian goal by sponsoring a team competing in the Ultra Trail of Mont‐ Blanc (UTMB) next August. The true calling of AFRICA RUN is to collect and distribute used athletic shoes to the poor in Africa. The 2007 project consists in funding the costs behind operating a truck which will be used in the next humanitarian TransAfrican Classic in order to transport the shoes. If there is enough room, school and health supplies will also be sent in the same vehicle.

AFRICA RUN Association
AFRICA RUN was created in 2006 by marathon runners aware of the dire situation of certain populations in Africa.
As marathon runners, they were constantly going through new shoes. They wanted to give a second life to their equipment by giving shoes to African children for school and to adults for work.
AFRICA RUN organizes the entire chain of operations from collecting the shoes to handing them out directly to the African people in need.

Our humanitarian project CHARTERING A TRUCK TO CARRY AND DELIVER 1500 PAIRS OF ATHLECTIC SHOES The AFRICA RUN team’s goal is to run “usefully” ! In order to help the AFRICA RUN association succeed in its humanitarian project of 2007, the members of the team have decided to combine their challenge with this project by asking companies to sponsor part of this difficult race ! Renault TRM 4000
In 2006, Patrick ZANIROLI and his Transafricaine Classic allowed us to transport athletic shoes collected by the association in a truck owned by the organization. We thus made 4 deposits, each one during a bivouac in each country we crossed.
4x4 6 cylindres Diesel Pneu : 1200 x 20 133 cv - 2900 tr/mn L : 6,20 m PTAC : 11,2 t - PTRA : 15t Consommation : 30 L Terrain meuble : > 30 L < +8
This year the TRANSAFRICA89 has lent us their truck in order to directly reach rural villages, schools and clinics. We need to raise funds in order to maintain the costs of operating this vehicle exclusively dedicated to delivering the shoes. The various costs necessary to finalize the project budget include gas, tolls, shipping, lodging, bivouacs and other small mechanical parts.

The use of the donations All costs for the event for the AFRICA RUN team are without exception paid for by the runners themselves. All donations are therefore exclusively divided between the following needs.
Vehicle costs In order to arrive safely, we need to have spare tires, a complete tune‐up and inspection before our depart, some small mechanical parts and of course insurance for the vehicle.
Means of Communication During the collection, the most important thing is to make people aware of the collection sites and then to stock the athletic shoes ! Collection boxes strong enough and large enough to store the many pairs of shoes are made available at sporting events then loaded onto the truck to be transported towards Africa In order to get the association’s message out to the public flyers and posters are made !
Travel costs The round‐trip between France and Africa requires diesel fuel, tolls, taking a boat across the Mediterranean, and paying for visas required for the countries visited. Not to mention the obligation to provide security and modern means of communication. Finally, the volunteers driving the truck and making the deliveries need to be lodged and fed during the bivouacs.
