Bio Speaker 1: Dr Jean-Pierre FAYE, R&D Manager at Thales Raytheon System, represents the NATO Industry Advisory Group (NIAG) at the NATO Modelling & Simulation Group. He conducts in 2012 the NIAG-164 Study on Distributed Simulation for Air and Joint Mission Training with the contribution of 35 industrial companies. He chairs the NATO MSG-128 Task Group on Incremental Implementation of NATO MTDS Operations, comprising 8 nations and 3 NATO organizations. Bio Speaker 2: Lcl Hugues POINTFER is in charge of the Air Simulation Master Plan for the French Air Force and is the French point of contact for the MSG-128 Task Group. Bio Speaker 3: Dominique PALABOST represents in the MSG-128 the NATO CASPOA COE (organization in charge of NATO Air Operation preparation readiness) Abstract The aim of Mission Training via Distributed Simulation (MTDS) is to provide collective training with the aircraft pilots and the chain of command in synthetic environment at lower cost and better realism than exercises with real systems and weapons. Networking exercises already exist for 15 years in US and several NATO and national activities have been conducted in this area and some nations have implementation programs. The objectives of this 3 years duration group are: • Based on the work of previous NATO and (multi-)national studies and projects, establish essential elements for a NATO MTDS environment, including: Concept, Standards and agreements, Legal and security framework, Services infrastructure, Standing operating procedures • Validate these elements through initial operational test and evaluation • Support a NATO Smart defence project on NATO MTDS

This activity is proposed as a collaborative effort of NATO AWACS and the nations to initially implement MTDS operations under the umbrella of NATO JCG C2 and the NATO Modelling and Simulation Group.. After 9 months of MSG-128 activity, the objective of this presentation is to provide an overview of the Operational and technical requirements established by the participant nations, as well to provide a perspective for the French Air Force training and for the NATO CASPOA COE activities.
