Bio Speaker 1: LtCol Hugues POINTFER is assigned at the Plans Office of the Air Staff where he is in charge of simulation policy and development in the French Air Force. He is involved in the MSG-128, a NATO Working Group on the implementation of inter-allies distributed mission training. His operational background is in the fighter community as a Mirage 2000D pilot. Bio Speaker 2: Jean-Louis GOUGEAT is in charge of the development of Distributed Mission Operation (DMO) activities at Sogitec. He has been involved in various international efforts within NATO, from the genesis of the NATO PATHFINDER programme until more recently the Mission Training via Distributed Simulation efforts. He is the Chairman of the SISO PDG on the Reuse and Interoperation of Environmental Data and Process (RIEDP) Abstract AXED aims at assessing the potential benefits and limits of the networking of Air Force simulators in terms of instruction quality. It will also address the related technical and security issues. The objective of such a Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) capability is to improve Air Force personnel operational readiness through richer and more challenging training missions. DMO operational, organizational, technical and programmatic issues will be analyzed. The results will be illustrated by experimentations featuring the networking of four AAF training centers: the Rafale Simulation Center (Saint-Dizier AFB, Rafale Aircrews), the SimFAC (Nancy-Ochey AFB, Forward Air Controllers), the SimSDCA (Avord AFB, AWACS Mission Crews) and ICC/ITC CASPOA (Lyon – MontVerdun AFB, C2 Staff). The expected outcome of the study will be a set of recommendations for the operational implementation of DMO, mainly focusing on technical solutions (Backbone, gateways, FOM Mapping) and associated standards likely to solve constraints regarding interoperability and information systems security. In addition, AXED will provide valuable inputs for France contribution to the NATO MSG-128.

This briefing will be presented jointly by the FAF and Sogitec. After a short presentation of the background and objectives of AXED, it will highlight the results and lessons learned collected during the first year of the project. Caractéristiques de la présentation : •
