Les amis de CIRCEE • WHAT? – An association to promote environmental education inside and outside school, since 1992 – An association registered by the ministry of education

WHERE? • Local level (Grenoble academy : five departments) • Regional level (links with Lyon academy) • Internationnal level (classes exchanges between high schools)

HOW? • By research action focused both on project realisation and teachers’ training • Thanks to a ten years experience, a methodology has been elaborated – To carry on class projects – To manage training sessions – To be transfered to any type of interdisciplinary projects

INSIDE THE INSTITUTION Ministry of National Education • Project realisation – Identified high schools and colleges (often involved in european class exchanges) – Several schools in cooperation ( a pilot operation with 19 schools/ one methodology) – Several schools, one topic with 3 levels(local, regional, european) : European charter for water; French and italian projects ( Trans/iter)

TEACHERS’ TRAINING • Sessions to promote environmental education within Grenoble academy • Sessions to open the field of action to ecocitizenship and to

personal relationships at school • Sessions on a european level – Teachers’training session all along international class projects (Italy/France; Spain/Portugal/France; Norway/France) – A training session : comenius 3.2 10 countries

INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE INSTITUTION • WHY? – Shortening of the institution budget for environmental education – Training limited to teachers only – Need for an environmental education development outside schools by opening our action to the civil society • The main idea is to organise training sessions for both teachers and differents partners involved in school projects ( park animators, experts, members of local communities, elected representatives…)

CONCLUSION • Since 1992, CIRCEE has worked with 2 main objectives: – Research action with university teachers. Now action research is also based on practice analysis to improve the quality of the partners’ sessions at school – Environmental education in a sustainable development objective, the pupils being involved in decisions on a local, regional and european level.

TODAY • CIRCEE still works on these 2 topics and at the same time follows a more global approach of school – personal relationships – eco citizenship

aiming to the concept of the ECO SCHOOL
