Octal Video Card The Octal Video Card is a video processing add-in card for the Jupiter Fusion 960 and Fusion 980 display wall processors. Each card provides eight additional high performance video processors and optionally, eight additional video input connectors. The Octal Video Card is designed to support applications where large numbers of video signals need to be shown on a display wall. With multiple cards installed in a Jupiter display wall processor, over one hundred video signals can be shown on the display wall simultaneously. This new capability provides the flexibility to directly attach all required video sources directly to the processor, eliminating the need for an external matrix switch, thus reducing cost and simplifying installation while improving user control. A Fusion 960 or Fusion 980 configured with multiple Octal Video Cards is the perfect solution for Intelligent Traffic, 911/Dispatch, and Surveillance installations that require monitoring numerous video sources simultaneously.

High Quality Video Eight separate video processors drive eight independent video windows that can be resized and placed anywhere on the entire display wall. The Octal Video Card employs a proprietary scaling and communication chip enabling high performance video capture and scaling for any S-Video or composite video source. Building on the already powerful video processing of the Fusion 960 and Fusion 980, each Octal Video Card adds the capability to display eight additional video windows virtually free of placement and size constraints, providing a superior user experience. Video refresh rate is maintained through optimized use of both source and destination scaling. Frame rates of up to 60 frames per second are possible even on video windows as large as the entire display wall.

Connection Options The Octal Video Card connects to Jupiter’s unique internal video bus, and has access to all video sources connected directly to the chassis video inputs in both the Fusion 960 and Fusion 980. An optional external connector block with eight pairs of BNC connectors provides eight additional directly connected S-Video or composite inputs per Octal Video Card. Each BNC pair can be used as either an S-Video or a composite input. The connector block is mounted in a 19” 1U rack mount panel and is cabled to the rear of the Octal Video Card with an included three-foot cable. The rack mount panel can be ordered with one or two connector blocks to support one or two Octal Video Cards, simplifying installation and preserving rear access space in installations using many Octal Video Cards.

Integrated Software The Octal Video Card hardware integrates seamlessly into the ControlPoint software architecture — Octal Video board inputs are automatically appended to the already existing chassis inputs and can be easily displayed in any ControlPoint window. Allocation of the appropriate decoder and scaling engine is handled automatically by the underlying software, maintaining a consistent user interface and ensuring a superb user experience.
