Overview
GTCR works with 4th dimension database (www.4D.com) on “single user” or “Client/server” architecture. 4D is available for MAC and Windows 2000/XP Operating systems. Install GTCR consist in : • Install 4D software (4D ou 4D Server) and plug-ins (4Dback-up, 4Dwrite, 4Ddraw) • Install GTCR’S files on the server (or single user PC) • For multi-users, install 4Dclient software on the “client” PC • Install QuickTime software (if necessary). These elements are included in the setup file. To use GTCR, it’s necessary to introduce a key-file made with : • Your 4D software database serial number • Your ordered GTCR options : • GTCR version (HelpDesk, Initiale ou Avancée), • GTCR solutions (single-user ou Client/Server) • GTCR Web-intranet option. • Maximum Number of simultaneous users and account users. • Time to use (only in the case of an half-yearly or yearly use).
This function create (if activated) a “circular” backup files set and an important file : the “Log history File”. It saves all operation in real time to prevent agains crash systems or « not wanted operation », allowing possible restore data file from the last backup to just the time (or operation) you want. The set backup files contains Data file “n” and Log history file including all operations form the backup process “n-1” to the time of the backup. Morever, GTCR provide history of all user modification, available for all users and create file history for all information saved on “file format” like binary, zip etc... These folders are created on the GTCR program Folder.

Configuration
The pre-requisites for GTCR are the same for 4D database software (see www.4D.fr) It works on all current Windows Operating Systems. For example, the « single user » solution, the minimum configuration is Workstation PCs with Pentium IV and 512Mo Ram. For the “multi-user” solution, it depends on the number of simultaneous connections you consider: • For the “4DServer”, PC on XP or 2000 Workstation (Server is not necessary) operating system with 1024 Mo Ram is a good minimum configuration for 10 simultaneous GTCR solutions (50 users accounts). • For the “4DClient”, pre-requisites are the same as PCs for “single user” solution.

GTCR setup wizard
The setup install all 4D database and GTCR program files according to the selected solution “single user”, “client” or “Server”: • Select « monoposte » , to install GTCR Single user solution • Select « Server » to install GTCR client/Server solution on the PC “Server” • For the PC « client », distribute this GTCR setup file on all “user” PC. Each user will have to use the default “Client” option of this setup wizard. For each connexion to the GTCR Server, 4D server distribute automatically update files of GTCR program files. Only documentation files must be updated with a specific setup file downloaded on www.gtcr-solutions.com..
Launch the setup wizard file and …
Select the type of desired installation (the selected options are strongly recommended and should not have to be unselected in theory)
Select the destination folder
The QuickTime setup installation start if not installed in the user PC. Follow the « standard » QuickTime setup, with default options : Click on “Next /Next /Accept/ Next/Next/Next/Next/ Finish /Next / Next/ Finish” then uncheck the 2 check-box and click on “Close”.
Accept the final user licence or Cancel to quit the setup wizard.
The installation is finished, it remains to record the 4D licences and GTCR licence (see Chapter 3) For information, the following chapters describe the contents of the folders.
3.1
« 4Dprogram » folder :
It Contains 4D program files to « serve » GTCR. It can be move anywhere on your hard disk and renamed.
3.2
By default, the setup type is « Client »
« 4D » folder :
It contains additional files like « help « files or plug-in. It is automatically created in the « Documents setting .... » folder of the current user when 4Dclient is used (Client/server Solution) or in the « All Users » folder when « monoposte » solution is used. During the connexion of 4Dclient to 4Dserver, this folder is updated automatically.

3.3 « GTCRProgram » folder : GTCR_Vx.4DC This folder is empty in client installation It contains GTCR program files ( « GTCR_Vx.4DC » ( .4DC extension as compiled version) and a resource file : GTCR_Vx.RSR. « x » indicate the GTCR version. This folder contains other sub-folders : WIN4DX : contains plug-ins DEFAUT : contains files needed to initiate a new data file. WEBREARES : contains files used by integrated Web-server (option of GTCR) These files are included on the setup update file (update after installation) Other folders will appear following GTCR options: IMPORT : Files uses by GTCR to update automatically records on the database like « Sites and contacts » from a formatted text file generated by an other application. Envoi_Mail : Sent mail ReceptionMail : Receved mail SVG_Blob : automatic back-up (versioning) of files stored in the database SVG_Schemas : automatic back-up (versioning) of diagrams stored in the database

Example for 20 simultaneous GTCR licenses solution, allowing 100 users accounts (5*20) with a centralized WebServer intranet: License GTCR : GTCR licence with WEB option for 20 simultaneous licences Licence 4D Server : 1 Licences 4DClients : 2 packs de 10 licences Licences 4DDraw : 2 packs de 10 licences Licences 4DWrite : 2 packs de 10 licences Licence 4D WEBServer : 1 Launch the appropriate 4D application corresponding to the GTCR solution (Single user or Server) in your workstation (use menu “Start/Program/GTCR_Vxxx/GTCR_Mono or GTCR_Server ») If your 4D product are already installed, you have saved your 4D licences. In this case, please go directly to the chapter « 4.5 – Licences Re-installation ». If not, the following chapters guide you to install these licences :
4.1
Licences 4D installation Wizard :
Data file : XXXXX.4DD (not included in the setup) (and his resource file XXXXX.4DR) .
The data file doesn’t included in the GTCR setup wizard file. It must be created at the time of the first installation et must be stored in a different folder from that of the GTCR program files.
Select the first check box and click on « Next »
If you need to rename the name of the datafile, don’t forget the resource file (XXXXX.4DR) and to check the back-up preferences (Admin Interface of GTCR).

4D licenses installation (« single user » or « Client/server »)
GTCR Solutions doesn’t include 4D licenses. Please contact 4D company to obtain tests licenses (internal demo mode of 4D doesn’t work with GTCR) or to buy definitives licenses GTCR Solution

Register yours 4D products
Type your 4D Product number in the appropriate field (products or expansion packs) and click on « Send ».
Select « On line Activation» and click on « Next »
Repeat this operation for each product, plugin or licences packs)

You haven’t a 4D account (It’s the first time you use a 4D product)
If all the Product number are valid, click on « Next » button .
Keep checked the fist check box and click on « Next »
All licences are sent you by mail. Save these attached files in your hard disk and click on « Next »
Fill in the form and click on « Next »
You’ll receive a mail containing your login and password
4.4
Save your 4D installed Licences
For « single user » or « 4Dserver » PC, these files are located on :: « C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\4D\Licences »

Licences Re-installation
Select each licence file saved in your hard disk by using If you haven’t saved your licences, fill in these fields.
Select the first check box and click on « Next »
If your licences are saved, Click on “Next”
Then, « Next » Check « Accept » and click on « Next »
Click on « Select file » to select saved licence file and click on « open ». Repeat this operation for each file. If the files are valid, Click on « Next »
Select « Off line Activation» and click on « Next »
Click on « Use 4D ! »

Use 4D ! – Launch GTCR program Select the folder: « C:\Program file\GTCR_Vxxx\GTCRProgram\ »
When a 4D application is launched, you have to select (for the first time) the GTCR program file (XXX.4DC). See Chapter refer to « GTCR installation folder »
Then, select the file “GTCR_Vxxx.4DC” and click on « Open »
By default, this folder is located on « c:\Program files » and the program file is on: « C:\Program file\GTCR_Vxx\GTCRProgram\ »
Select “GTCR_Vxxx.4DC” file and click on “Open” button.

Create a new Data file – Store a GTCR licence
The GTCR licence key is store in each data file (normaly you have only one datafile). The GTCR licence Key is associated with the 4D product (Single user or 4Dserver) and GTCR options Use the short cut : « Start/Program/GTCR_Vxx/… » « GTCR_Mono » ou « GTCR_Server » , to show this windows : For the first launch, this windows is displayed. Click on « New » to create a new data file.
Click on « Open a database »

Localization of the data file
Click on this
Select/create a folder. Remember, do not save the data file in the program GTCR installation. It could be removed when GTCR will be uninstalled.

Give a name for the data file and click on « save »
5.3
Select an existing data file
If you use « single user », an alerte message remember you to use the default account « Super_admin ». If you use « Client/server » solution, launch « GTCR_Client » (4DClient) - see Chapter 6 - and this alert will appear to remember you to use “Super_Admin” account
When you start 4D application, this windows appear.. Click on this button
5.4
Store the licence key
The default password is : AdminGTCR
This alert appear because the licence key doesn’t exist .
5.2
Default datas importation
This operation is automatic (after login for « Single user »). All information included in the “defaut” folder are imported in the data file.
Automatically, the module « General Setteings » appear in the « Licences » tab.
Click on « Licences key update » to select your licence Key, if not, click on the button below to ask for one.

Select your GTCR licence key file (crypted text file)

The tab « Recents » is empty. When the 4D server is in the same Broadcast domain, his IP address appear on the TCP/IP tab. Select this one and click on « OK » .
Check information (options and validity) and click on this button to save the key.

You have changed of 4D product (Tempory licence / New product)
If not, you have to know the 4Dserver ip address and click on the third tab Fill in a name and the ip address of the 4Dserver and click on “OK”.
Ask for by clicking on this button, a mail will be pre formatted , ready to be sent with all necessary information. , then « login you »

When this windows appear, you are connected to the GTCR Server (4D server)

After installing GTCR_Server version in your server and GTCR_Client in your workstation, use the following short cut: « Start/program/GTCR_VXXX/GTCR_Client »
