WORK EXPERIENCE Since 09/2010

Research engineer, CNRS, UTC Compiègne, HEUDIASYC team (France)

I am currently working on a industry-oriented research project about the collaborative authoring of structured documents (C2M).

03/2007 – 08/2010

Expert engineer, INRIA Rocquencourt, IMEDIA team (France) As an assistant manager, I was in charge of supervising the day-to-day activity of two European research projects on multimedia search engines:  CHORUS was a strategic project aiming at establishing synergies between various European research programs on multimedia search.  VITALAS was a technical project that led to the development of an advanced multimedia search engine, based on various technological components developed by different research labs in Europe.

10/2002-11/2006

Researcher, CWI Amsterdam (the Netherlands) In cooperation with the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and as part of my PhD research, I developed a model and processing framework that reduces the production costs of time-based multimedia documents (e.g. SMIL and SVG) through reuse of design knowledge and automatic adaptation to the delivery context (including device and user constraints). Visiting scholar (6 months), University of California, Berkeley (USA) I worked in the “garage cinema” research lab on semantically aware search of videos that were annotated by cinematographic experts. The results were used to facilitate the reuse of video sequences during montage. Visiting scholar (6 months), University of Queensland, Brisbane (Australia) I worked on automated knowledge discovery in annotated cultural historic archives. The inferred semantic relations were used to present search results more appropriately by using the framework developed for my PhD research.
