Dear Madam /Sir, The Norman University Pole (PUN) and the National Agency for Partnerships between Universities and the Economic and Social Environment (APART), with support from the University of Rouen, the University of le Havre, the University of Caen Lower Normandy, the Regional Council of Upper Normandy, and the Regional Council of Lower Normandy, are organising in Cherbourg, between July 18 to 23, 2005, the fourth Summer University edition of ‘University in Society – UNISO 2005’, on the subject of ‘University and Employment’. The main objective of the Summer University is the local and regional development of vocational training in order to expand university-enterprise partnerships. The directions suggested for this edition are: Assessing employers’ demands – building the training offer; Competences – product of universities and of enterprises; Strategy of universities based on the Lisbon Strategy; Is the university a knowledge enterprise? Career development in universities and follow-through of graduates Intangible assets, tacit knowledge of universities and the labour market; Evolution of the labour market in the knowledge society; Adjustments between the training offer and the needs of enterprises; International mobility: an asset for the access to employment; University studies and work integration;

Continuing training and employability; The apprenticeship, value added to competence; Entrepreneurial university and knowledge enterprise. We kindly ask you to confirm your participation by April 15th, 2005 and to communicate the topic of your contribution by sending a max. 500-word abstract which can be the object of an oral presentation of 15-20 minutes or of a contribution during a round-table discussion. The full text of your contribution should reach us in electronic format by June 1st, 2005. The language used must be French or English. The draft agenda and the inscription form are attached.
