Evening Service in G minor Editor’s note This edition retains Purcell’s original key and re-allocates the verse sections from SSA and ATB to SAT and ATB. This seemed both more logical and more suitable for modern vocal ranges. As no continuo or organ part exists in manuscript for this setting, none has been provided here. Verses can be allocated as Decani and Cantoris alternating, either as solos or full. Dynamic markings or tempo indications are left to the individual performer. The Gloria to the Magnificat has been retained for the Nunc Dimittis in preference to the version by “Mr Roseingrave junior” already available in Maurice Bevan’s edition for OUP.
