Dear friends and partners,

October 3, 2012

Thanks so much for your prayers for us this fall. We are so glad that Zacharie is really happy in his Jr High. He is pleased with the teachers, his classes, and seeing his friends regularly. Gabrielle was a little surprised to have a man teacher, who is a little strict, but she is doing well, enjoys being in school with a few good friends, and has made friends already with a new girl. Nathanael goes every other Friday morning to day care and he just loves it! He is keeping us busy because he is always on the move and wants to do everything himself! The big kids have started back to piano lessons on Monday night, Zacharie got into tennis this year, and Gabrielle is trying out judo and loves it so far.

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:5-6 Much of my time is taken with the family and home, but as I prepared my Personal Plan for the school year, I felt I need to pray more for all the contacts we have naturally, with whom we have spoken about Christ, but it not easy to go deeper on the subject. In July at our conference in Estonia, I was convicted by the idea that I often doubt that God can bring these people to himself since they seem so far away. Would you pray with us especially this year for these friends for whom we have such affection and desire so that they would have the joy of a relationship with God? We pray also that God would work in the lives of people around you every day. – Jackie and Michelle, our retired neighbors across the street. They are so caring and friendly with us, available to help with jobs around the house, keeping the kids, or taking us to the train station at 5:30 am! We just love them but they are not at all interested in God and don't have a religious background. We mention faith, God, that we prayed for a medical problem for them, etc, but please pray with us that God would break through and give them a desire to know Him. – Bernard and Josiane, our retired neighbors next door, who helped us from the start, give us food from the garden and gardening tips. They have no interest in religious things either. – Gabrielle's friend Agathe, who went to the kids' retreat last spring, is going with her again October13-14. Her family sometimes attends mass and sends the kids to catechism, but maybe more from tradition than a deep relationship with God. Her mom Laurence has come to the Christmas tea with me. Please pray that we could help them discover how to really know God and find more meaning in that relationship. – Same thing for Gabrielle's friend Maïwen, but she can't go to the retreat this time. Her mom Johanna has come to the Christmas tea with me. – Gabrielle's new friend Eloïse, and her mom Sabine, that we could get to know them better and be able to share our faith with them. – Zacharie's friend Pierre, who attended catechism also, but it seems from talking with the parents that it is more by tradition than from any personal faith. Pray that we could develop those relationships more and be a blessing to them. – Catherine, a mom of the kids' friends at their old school. We continue to go to lunch together regularly and talk about lots of things. She is really against religion, but asks politely about my activities. Pray that I could share with her in a sensitive way, especially in relation to some hard things she has been through recently. – The family of Youna, Zacharie's oldest friend. I shared in a past letter about her mom Aëla when she came to the Christmas breakfast with me. They have no religious upbringing but ask questions about faith. – Some young couples in our church, that we could develop the relationship more and see how we can be an encouragement to them. Please pray also for our kids that they would continue to be enthusiastic witnesses with their friends, and also learn to share in a sensitive way since so many of the others have absolutely no experience with God or church, and sometimes have parents who are even negative about it. – –

Please pray for Yannick's different activities: He continues to work by correspondence on his Bachelor's in Protestant Theology, with several classes: History of Alexandrian Christianity, Rabbinic Literature, Liturgy, Rhetoric in OT and Hymns in Luke-Acts. After handling Heartbeat Tallinn registrations and communication, he's finalizing the accounting of the French delegation.

October 11-13: trip to the Paris office and his first participation in the CCC-Agapé France board of directors, with among other things the elaboration of the 2013 strategic plans and budgets. Continuing the update of the Policy Manual: after the Personnel section, he is working with two colleagues on Finances and Training sections. A new responsibility: supervising each month the support level, salaries and advances of all French staff. And a last prayer request is for the preparations for the Christmas tea for women December 9. May the Lord bless you as you are a light around you in your neighborhood, work, and activities. Thank you for your faithfulness with us to help make Jesus known in France.
