Call for participation to: COST Action FP1302 WOOD MUSICK – WOODen MUSical Instrument Conservation and Knowledge

Aims and scope: The aims of the Action (http://www.cost.eu/domains_actions/fps/Actions/FP1302) are to combine forces and to foster research on wooden musical instruments in order to preserve and develop the dissemination of knowledge on musical instruments in Europe through inter disciplinary research. Topics of interests: Organology, xylology, dendrochronology, music history, conservation techniques, restoration, wood sciences, mechanics, acoustics, musical instrument making. Every person interested in the Action is asked to fill out and return the attached form to [email protected] and create an account on the COST website e-cost (http://www.cost.eu/domains_actions/fps/Actions/FP1302).

Call for papers COST Action FP1302 opening conference The Opening conference will be held on 27-28 February 2014 in Musée de la musique in Paris, France. The goal of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from different origins (academia, museum, handicraft and industry) from different background (organology, wood sciences, conservation, mechanics and acoustics) to focus on wooden musical instrument and establishing new collaborations in order to increase their knowledge and to use the COST networking tools (STSM, focused meeting). The contribution to the opening conference will consist in a poster presentation of the projects and/or activities, equipment and/or expertise and interests in the COST Action FP1302 WOOD MUSICK. Submission Those who wish to attend the conference are kindly to send the following form filled out to [email protected] by 19 January 2014. Authors of selected posters will be invited to the conference according the COST rules (http://www.cost.eu/participate/networking).
