Latent Urone Accelerator

Dyhard® UR500

Dyhard UR500 represents a difunctional, latent, micronized urone accelerator based on substituted urea. It is useful as latent accelerator preferably in combination with latent hardeners, e.g. the Dyhard 100 series, for hot curing of epoxy resin formulations.

Dyhard UR500 finds wide application as latent accelerator in hot curing of epoxy resin formulations. Its use is particularly suited in combination with micronized dicyandiamide, e.g. Dyhard 100S, or with dicyandiamide pastes Dyhard D50EP and DF50EP. Dyhard UR500 contains no halogen atoms or moieties and therefore may be preferred for applications where halogen-free formulations are required. The fact that Dyhard UR500 is not considered as dangerous chemical compound shall make this urone accelerator extremely advantageous in terms of product handling, processability and with respect to environmental issues. In formulations based on liquid bisphenol-A epoxy resins (EEW 182-192) Dyhard UR500 is typically added in amounts of 0,5-5,0 parts per 100 parts of epoxy resin. The optimal ratio strongly depends on the specific application and process requirements and has to be determined individually for each case. The good latency properties make Dyhard UR500 ideal for storage-stable one package formulations. Depending on fillers, modifiers and storage temperature shelf lives up to 6 months may be obtained. Compared to many other urone type accelerators, Dyhard UR500 shows superior acceleration performance in combination with finely micronized dicyandiamide hardeners even at temperatures as low as 100-120 °C.

Handling The acute oral toxicity levels are low (LD50 oral, rat > 2000 mg/kg). No hazard label is required. Nevertheless the usual precautions for handling chemicals must be observed. In particular the general threshold level for dust and a sufficient skin and eye protection must be observed. Please consult the Material Safety Datasheet for additional information.

Packaging Cardboard box with PE-inliner containing 10 kg net (400 kg per pallet).

Storage Unlimited storability in a dry place at ambient temperature without chemical decomposition. Long storage may result in caking. Storage time from date of delivery is recommended not to exceed 6 months. Please consult the Material Safety Datasheet for additional information.
